Bogged engine down while turning, electric steering warning light comes on

Chalk this one up to a Monday drive and not doing the clutch/gas thing properly... bogged the engine down a bit while making a left turn at an intersection from a stop. RPM probably dipped a bit over 500 rpm and heard a beep, and the light for the electric power steering came on. Stopped, turn off and on the car, no more light. Did notice that when the engine shut off it felt like it turned over a few more times which has never happened previously. Oh, and the clock reset itself to 1:00.

Decided to do a quick test at a stop light (probably not a good idea), stalled the car intentionally, then everything went dark. RPM gauge stuck at 500 RPM. Crap, light turns green, hit the start button, nothing, had to wait about five seconds then things started up. Guessing the security system needed to power up or reset to recognize the key fob. Again, clock at 1:00.

Got back to work after lunch, this time in the parking lot, stalled the car, radio and everything still running, clock didn't reset itself, etc.

Any ideas on what could be happening? Low battery or alternator on the way out? Did search and couldn't find anything similar.

Well, now, @tanner ...... I suggest you just quit intentionally stalling your car .....

Here is a handy guide to checking your battery and alternator.

Ha for sure

Yeah as soon as I get home tonight, will take a look at the battery voltage with Torque or with an actual meter....
