Anyone here run the option of picking multiple tunes on this beast? I'd love to have the CARB legal tune just to pass the tests or for a relaxed run, but I'd really love to have a fully tuned option next to it to switch over to whenever I want. Does anyone know if just having the extra tune will throw off the readings and fail me? Any help or ideas?

Either way, I can't wait to toss this in.

Making it pass SMOG and such, really. Basically legal forced induction.

Sure can, but you won't make any significant power gains by going to a non-CARB tune for a CARB setup (both stock cats).

It makes it California Legal, which means you can't be pulled over for having a modified cars, at least as far as the power output/supercharger goes.

It's REALLY easy to get pulled over in California for illegal modifications, and non-CARB engine parts (intakes, headers, etc.) are not legal. Then you get to go visit the state ref, and have to revert your car back to stock to pass. Or pay a hefty fine. Sometimes both.

hmm very interesting im learning so much. So I understand carb is just to pass emissions and to be street legal. Anyone know that if New York have this issue? I know cops like to pull people over if you have one of them loud bumble bee exhausts thats too loud in the street.

CARB is "California Air Resource Board", and is really only for California. It just happens to be that the CARB tune is also the most refined tune available for the Jackson Racing supercharger setup, if you plan on keeping your OEM cats. In other words, you won't get any significantly higher amount of power by getting a tune by a third party, versus the Jackson Racing tune.

I assumed as much. I live in SoCal with really REALLY touchy cops with nothing better to do, and have already had an engine inspection just from my ARK DTS exhaust alone. It's a big reason why I'm tempted to have the CARB tune and a separate tune to go with it. I want to do a lot to the car, but the state makes it super difficult to get away with anything. I only care because I DD the hell out of it and want something simple and reliable.

Shit, I wanted to a FlexFuel option for the separate setup, but I'd fail SMOG or anything just for having it attached to the car. Redflagged every time. Ah well. I'll be happy with 280 hp with it The dream of 320 hp in it will happen one day when I figure out how to remove the Flex system in under an hour to pass a test

This can be arranged.... it's actually what's on the CSG car.

And yes, we've been cited for modifications (and passed with flying colors) with the supercharger. The LEO can choose to still cite you to go to the ref, but if you're legal, you just pay your $8.75 and go your merry way.

I didn't realize we'd have to pay still, despite being legal. they should pay us back for our wasted time spent going to the ref. ridiculous.

$8.75 at the ref for the smog certificate, and $25 at the court for processing a fix-it ticket.

On the flip side, this also counts as a smog check, so with an older car, you actually SAVE money versus paying for a smog check at a retail location...
