I wanted all the bells and whistles that come on the BRZ Limited, and I was willing to pay the extra coin to get it. The fact that I've been a Subaru fan for many years was secondary. If I could get a Scion kitted out exactly the same, the deciding factor would be the OTD cost, that's it.

So, no, I wouldn't sell/trade my BRZ for a 10 Series FR-S.

Brand Loyalty is an important issue. Car companies like it and move a lot of advertising and eventual sales to promote it. Subaru has been very good at it and nothing wrong with that. Cars are sold a lot simply by emotion especially with young buyers. it is what distinguishes one with another. For instance, some posters say that just the color is the determining factor of one brand over the other.

On the other hand, similar advertising with aftermarket advertising. They all show a 'fast' cars carving through the turns, noisy exhaust, photos of the exhaust tips (Duh), brake caliper covers in special colors (duh). It's all bling bling. Gimme a car that works. (in sterling silver metallic only, of course)

Sorry, I think all this brand loyalty is ridiculous, ESPECIALLY on a car that's heart IS A SUBARU! I don't think I've pulled a part off this car yet that didn't have the stars and/or Subaru stamped on it. "But, but, it says 'Scion' on it" lol, this argument is the dumbest of them all. The BRZ is not a better than the FRS and visce versa, they do have their subtle differences but not enough to nutswing from one twin to the other. Most of these little differences will disappear with mods anyway, but the emblems will remain. I didn't care which care I got, I went with what was available when I was looking. I could have gone either way and been happy. Price difference wasn't enough to justify waiting if I could have gotten a BRZ faster.

Get off your pedestal (I'm speaking to both sides here) and just enjoy the f-ing car already!!

No, primarily because they only offer it in one color, and I would only get an FR-S in red. Also, the illuminated badges and shift knob add zero value to me.

They do add 1,000 ricer points and 50 horsepower to the butt dyno, though!

It's really preference. I'd rather my car a little tail happy than have it understeer like a fwd car. Already have a car that understeers, dont need two lol.

I'm going to stop now because this thread is turning into another FRS vs BRZ debate

FRS suspension tuning = oversteer
BRZ suspension tuning = neutral

I can tell you which one I prefer when I'm going through a VIR sweeper going 100+ mph

Image becomes less important as you get older. At least that's for the good majority of people where I'm from.

Scion's average buying age is the youngest in the industry. I personally don't care about the badge on the car. Whether it by Scion vs Subaru. I picked the BRZ because it had the features I wanted and the FR-S did not. Simple as that. I am 42, so I guess that makes me old.
I guess in a way I prove both of you right.

The bottom line is I don't think anyone is buying this car for its badge (OK maybe a small percentage). The 1st86 group disproves the theory that us "mature guys" are avoiding the FR-S because the majority of the 1s86 were outside the age bracket @thill mentions.

To be fair, I did exactly what both @thill and @ST185RC said. I bought the FR-S because it had the level of options I wanted, and was willing to pay extra for.

Would I preferred (some) of the (primarily cosmetic) differences in a BRZ? Sure. I like the headlights, that's about it. But, I wasn't willing to pay additional for them. Everything else that is a difference to me is meh, and is outweighed by my preference in the suspension tuning and the front-end.

The FR-S hit the exact price break I was willing to pay for an entry level sports car. The BRZ pricing moved above that, and was where I would have spent more to get a different car or no car at all.

So, yes I bought the car I wanted without caring what anyone else thought, or what emblems were on it, etc. Heck I even (blasphemy) bought the AT!
