Now did you know this scratch was there before you signed the papers or did it just "appear"?

Haven't signed the papers yet and this is my first new car experience. I'm assuming/hoping that if it looks good next time I go in this shouldn't be a deal breaker, right??? But I do feel a bit weird about buying a brand new car that's had a ding and been repaired.

They said they will do something to make up for the inconvenience...but I'm not sure what they have in mind.

Well, start at giving you the car for free!!!! If that fails, work your way down to something not as expensive!

Personally, I would tell the dealership that I'd rather wait for a new car. Paint work on a brand new car is a veeeeeeery bad thing.

If you do decide to keep it, check all over the fender, door, and hood for overspray (if you don't know, it feels like rough patches usually along the edges or inside the seams of your panels) and mismatched color between panels - if you see any of these things, don't accept it. Otherwise when you go to sell it later on down the road, people will immediately assume it has been in an accident and you'll get less money toward your next awesome car.
