Well, I'm certainly a bit envious, as evidenced by my thread in the VS section. I think a 911 might be in my future, too (albeit an 8-10yr-old one). I love the 991 but it's certainly not in the cards at the moment. Heck, even a 997 S is a stretch but if I sell the 93 octane-swilling, insurance policy-killing, wallet-denting RS6 and replace it with a more reasonable daily I think I can swing it
save up till you get out of the 2001-2005 ones, subsequent IMS updates are worth it, go 06 up fyi

All are welcomed here. It's always nice to get a mix of other cars here or there once in a while and learn from one another.

@kiichiro nice Porsche's brother.

I'm fairly certain the IMS issues don't go away until 2008 or 2009. The IMS bearing is not an issue in the 996 Turbo, which uses 993/964 engine components and is also the only 996 I would get.
For a 997 I'd look at an 05-06 Carrera S 2wd and pay my Porsche master tech friend a couple thousand to do the IMS retrofit.
