Heres what im planning:

Cut the grey wire on its own plug and ground that to pin 7 on the 10 pin plug.
this should get me around the ebrake, now I need to get around the VSS

For this I will grab pin 17 on the 28 pin plug and run it to a rocker switch, with this I will be able to cut the VSS signal, allowing me to type in an address/use my phone, then flip the switch back allowing my gps to continue to be accurate.

From what I gathered this sounds like the only way to do it until someone finds a pin allowing us to get around this a different way.

Any other input? other things I should try while im back there?
Sounds like a plan.

Any one have any new updates with this little project?

I have two kids that are eager to watch "We bought A Zoo" on my Nav. screen as I drive them jiu-jitsu class...

I plan on finishing adding a subwoofer this weekend, hopefully I will have time to play around some more with this issue. I will try disconnecting the VSS, then I will try grounding the VSS from the HU end and see what the results are.

I do have a busy weekend, so please no one hold me to finishing this.. lol

I will remember to take pictures for future reference.

Non Brz owner chiming in here..

I do recall some manufacturers using timed switches that trigger a switch for say 30 seconds to a minute to allow input on older Infiniti models and whatnot.. This may make the switch mod noted above a little easier as you dont need to toggle the switch the second time as it automatically reverts to the default "off" connection.

Good luck guys.

Does anyone know how the SWC pins of the 28-pin connector work?

Is SWC common a logic level high, and you pull the other 2 SWC pins to either common or ground?

Do the connectors have dummy pins in the SWC locations, or does anyone have a source for connectors or crimpable pins?

Was thinking of making a small switch panel with the volume controls and a toggle switch to disable parking brake switch.

Could anyone make a DIY for the Nav bypass? I'm still pretty new to these kinds of things and I don't want to mess everything up. ): Thanks in advance.
