Can driver aids work after an engine swap?

Can anybody shed some light if it's possible to preserve Anti-lock brakes, traction and/or stability control after a swap? Has anyone done so?

Depends on the swap. Some different swaps have had pretty comprehensive ECUs developed. Some nothing.
Like Way said you got the cash somebody will come up with the action.

The short answer is, for all practical intents and purposes, no not really.

The cost curve is extreme.

This is encouraging...

Money is not a huge issue

Talk to me about the ABS and traction control (I'm assuming you're running a stand alone)

Motec with custom firmware. Abs is same as stock, I haven't engaged it yet though but it is active. We setup the traction control for drag racing but you can do basically anything you want. this was our traction control setup on bare asphalt with the fa20 still in it. leaving on 18psi. pedal never left wide open

A bit late to your post but:

I've done a few CAN based conversions in vehicles, so I feel like I have some experience here. Think of the car and its vehicle network as an algebra equation. A+B+C+D+E+F = WorkingCar

Remove E, you have WorkingCar-E.

The only extra bit about this would be that system A B C D and F rely on messages from system E. If you can replicate system E in all of its functions, the equation works again. This is all possible.

Why isn't it readily available? It takes time and time and time. Motec and others have put the time in and have gotten it all working. In a few years time when CAN based vehicles are more commonplace, this will be a non-issue. A good bit of people I talk to in the industry still really don't understand CAN.

Another thing to consider: Manufacturers are now more than ever cracking down on sharing information like the CAN .dbc file. After the recent attacks on FCA vehicles, information has gotten even more scarce. I know a good bit of Japanese manufacturers don't share the CAN format with their American counterparts. That leaves people like me to sit and stare at messages and poke and prod for hours to essentially "guess" it all correctly THEN make it work.

I wonder if information would be available from these guys or someone similar.

Obviously price would be a big factor, but it's food for thought.

If you had an unlimited budget, yep.

Honestly if I had a better eye/brain for assembly there is plenty of documentation our there for disassembly of a BRZ ROM and I know where the CAN ID's are stored that I could probably figure out a bunch more, but disassembly isn't my strong suit.
