If so, can some manufacturer PLEASE design us some better door stop arms?! I would pay $100 to keep the fucking doors from closing on their own anymore. I've learned to deal with it but my SO is ready to set the car on fire from how many times the door's shut on her

I've tried wrapping various materials on the arm to make it thicker and/or add more friction but the grabber inside the door just rips everything off - there's not enough tolerance there for anything to be on the arm.
Was going to say wait until it gets really cold out and then it can be hard to close the door but I guess that solution is not going to work for you.

I spoke with Bubba and he said to simply cut a sliver from a cedar shingle and jam it in the slot where that arm goes into the door.

Ultra - You do all the backing up required while driving with Hum.
Hum - You do all the navigation required while driving with Ultra.

Take my word on these things.

A thousand thanks to ermax and Ultra. I've been struggling with "the door problem" since day one and finally decided to do something about it. I must say that the design of this thing is piss poor. It just relies on friction to hold the door open. And over time that black plastic thing wears down and there is less friction to hold it.
So I added shims as per ermax's diy. But i used a piece of alcohol bottle (same material as a milk jug only it's flatter) as per Ultra's suggestion and it really works great. I just did it today so how it holds up, I don't know. It was a bit of a PITA to do. When the assembly is off the car, the friction is extreme. The only way to get the blocks out and back in is to have the black plastic thing extended as if the door was fully closed. Makes attaching it back to the car difficult but not impossible. Also the thickness of the "milk jug" is just about as thick as you can go and still retain the "nubs" on the white plastic things. I would highly recommend this procedure for anyone who parks on hills alot.

Did you ever try making shims? Doesn't have to be milk jugs. You could cut up one of Wendy's plastic cups.

Consider the off topic posts as free bumps for the thread.
Maybe somebody will have a solution you like better than the one already offered and proven to work.
