I'm 68. Looking at the majority of ages here you people are just out of diapers. I have some perspective having started out with mostly English sports cars from the 50s and 60s. I have either owned or driven cars that were the inspiration for the BRZ/86. I never owned, but have worked on the Datsun 240Z when it was introduced. Using the Z-car as an example, in my opinion was the BRZ/86 of the day. Adjusting for inflation, the BRZ/86 is just a little more expensive, but many times the value in terms of quality and performance. At the time I was driving Austin Mini-Coopers (real ones) and nearly bought a 240Z, but working on them sort of dissuaded me. Today, I can afford a six figure self indulgent car, but why? For me, any more than what the Tobaru costs falls squarely into the Law Of Diminishing Returns. Test driving and research into a late model Lotus reminded me of the days of owning a vintage English sports car (I owned an Elan) : you spend 50% of your time driving the car and 50% of your time getting it to run.

Never too old to own a fun-to-drive car. I'm 62 and enjoy my 2013 Series 10 FR-S. I am a retired inventory material manager and still work two days-a-week as a consultant.

Oldtimer? Ha! Just you wait... your time will come. You know you are there when you get a senior discount without asking for one. Seems to me the discount thing is bass ackwards. I could have used it when I was driving a beater Austin Healey. It's good to see a good number of kids driving these cars. A few decades down the road don't be saying, "Coulda, woulda, shoulda."

Yep, I've experienced that getting a senior discount thing without asking thing. But, when I am speaking to the kid on the speaker at a fast food drive through, how do they know I'm a senior citizen? Maybe because I can't read the selections (like at Panaros ) and/or I can't hear them repeat back my selections - humfrz |
