Sorry, I can't be of more assistance but when you buy products from ebay you are taking a risk. Good luck with your purchase."

I found out that the only authorized Rydeen online vendors are Al & Ed's AutoSound and Crutchfield. Al & Ed's is mainly a brick & mortar chain of car stereo installation shops and also has an online store. Rydeen may be giving them a pass due to the volume of cameras they purchase for their own installs. http://www.al-eds.com/Rydeen-Mobile-...0B-p22239.html

Crutchfield sells the Rydeen MINy but not the Duo. http://www.crutchfield.com/shopsearc...en_camera.html

So where are ebay and Amazon vendors getting their Rydeen Duo cameras from? They may be gray market cameras and may or may not work with 6V.

You can do like I did and use AutoHarnessHouse's wire harness. This harness uses a 6-volt relay and the 12-volt accessory power provided to the stock head unit to provide a 12-volt output and composite video input for any standard automobile backup camera. http://www.autoharnesshouse.com/19867.html
The FR-S also needs the reverse trigger wire.

the fr-s needs the reverse trigger wire..does the BRZ as well? someone in another thread said they didn't, just want to confirm

Why would the BRZ not need a reverse trigger wire? How else would it know when you're in reverse?
@Chillz you can easily make a harness yourself with some wire and a $5 relay off of eBay. I made my own for my backup cam.

Reverse signal is already part of the harness on the BRZ.
People can confirm by entering the signal check mode of the head unit by turning the audio off, then pressing the audio button first then the voice and nav buttons together. REV will be your reverse indicator status and PKB is the parking brake status.

Rydeen Duo on BRZ Limited

Thanks for the quick reply guys. I really want to go the simple route without the relay.
I just wanted to check if anyone bought a legit one recently and was able to run it at 6V. Basically, I just want to confirm that the manufacturer hasn't made any changes to the recent batches to cause them to only operate at 9-16V.

Well I just installed my new one last week using the 6V port. It had a QC stamp dated Sept 2015. I would say that is the simplest route.

As always suggested on the install, when you get your camera, first test the whole setup plugged to the head unit before mounting the camera and running all the cables.

I bought mine from Al & Ed's Autosound last July and it's been running fine off a 6V source (head unit). I probably could have found one cheaper elsewhere, but didn't want to risk getting a knockoff.

i failed to "cut" the wire to delete the camera's guide lines. is this something i can do from the trunk? or does it require me taking everything apart to behind the radio again. i want to get rid of these lines!! and are you able to adjust the camera any on the angle? mines has like 1/3 of it being just my bumper. Thanks!

Installed a rydeen duo with an amazon adapter and everything seems to work OK. However, I connected 2 ground wires and 2 power wires. I must be missing something but I couldn't get the camera to turn on without plugging in a power/ground in the trunk, and a power/ground behind the headunit.

Are only one of these power/ground setups used to power the camera, and if so are they both necessary?

You need both with the stock head unit. One is to power the camera. The other set is for the reverse trigger.
