Lets remember that the engine mounts in the BRZ are supposedly the same as another Subaru engine (forget which). Could play a role in this whole thing. The WRX is going to its own platform so perhaps would use a new turbo engine as well, makes sense to use the one with the lowest COG.

I highly doubt the BRZ will see an engine any time soon.
BRZ will have no engine? How does it move?

So do a front mount. Not a big deal.

Seeing how the BRZ is the only car using the FA20 engine for now though, is this a pretty sure sign that a turbocharged FA20 will be fit into future BRZ (maybe FR-S/86 too) models ???
yes it was official but they NEVER said this engine would go on the BRZ.
they specifically said at the LA auto show (when they unveiled the
BRZ STI) that the turbo version of the BRZ engine would be on the next gen WRX.

I hate how these articles make it seem like the BRZ is getting it but it's NOT.

here:
watch this video, go to minute 10:20

the BRZ and Scion/toyota are meachanically the EXACT same thing,
why would a turbo engine fit in one and not the other?

Right now there's an internal discussion wether to go FB or FA for turbo. Both are being looked at. We picked one for the LA show to communicate there will be A turbo on the books.
from http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...2276979&page=2

So it's still up in the air as to whether they turbo the FA. The thread is in reference to the WRX/STI however.

I have nothing against a Turbo, but I am afraid if a Turbo comes up, there will be no more resurch/development/aftermarket for a Naturally Aspirated engine.
