FR-S Headlight Bulb Swap

Looking for some opinions on what a good headlight bulb swap would be.

I don't know squat about electrical and get very confused/nervous when looking at all the potential light upgrades when I see new wiring harnesses and things like that.

I was hoping to find a good "plug and play" solution that will give my FR-S a whiter and cleaner light on the main headlights. As for the DRL's I think I will just follow the DIY guide and remove the resistor that enables them.

Thanks!

Did you just get some HID bulbs (or LED bulbs) and do a "plug and play"? Or did you have to do some custom wiring/harness/mounting?

Also did you change out both DRL/High Beams and Headlights?

I modded a standard H9 bulb and it definitely improved my light output. There's a DIY on the forum should be total of $15 mod. It won't be whiter output but it will be brighter and last a long time.

I got the 8000k HID kit, and then got LED's for my Day Time Running Lights (DRL's) and LED Switch Backs for the Turn Signals! Everything works perfectly! If you decide to get the Switch Backs for the Turn Signals id recommend getting a Turn Signal Adapter to prevent Hyperflashing. i got mine from the link below. Hope this helps!

ddmtuning.com. That is where I got my 5000k hid set. everything was plug and play. each headlight gets an hid bulb, one ballast and one relay. the bulb, ballast and relay all plug into each other and the original bulb plug from the car plugs into the new ddm setup. super easy.

I went the simple route, https://www.sylvania.com/en-us/produ...rstar-zxe.aspx

There are two types of bulbs that fit the High Beams, one has the straight connector (bulb number ends with XS), one with the 90 degree connector.....the other difference is the reflective tip (on the 90 degree version and is plug and play), but the none reflective tipped version works better and only needed to have the locking tab trimmed to allow the connector lock to work (straight connector version).

I almost bought these at my local auto store the other day. they were $65. Was wondering if they looked good.

Are you happy with them? Is the light very white? Is the light output as good as stock?

Color is white with just enough blue, output is way better than stock....added at least 300 feet of range.

Rainy night time driving is much better too, the road lines actually show up with these.....not that we get much rain in the desert
