They likely ship separately to both coasts in the US. At least that's what they did in 2012. With Toyota, they shipped to Long Beach, Jacksonville, FL and somewhere in New England. Toyota ships separately to the Southeast because that is a separate franchise from the rest of the US.

Hah, I never even considered Toyota would ship theirs separately from Subaru.

I’m unfamiliar with all the ports in the East Coast, especially North East. Baltimore is a main one for SOA though.

The thing is, I don’t think anybody has a VIN on a BRZ order yet? I ran a search and see incoming cars to specific dealers in the North East with no sold order attached and they have no VINs.

Normally, VINs are available before the car is loaded on a boat.

But it’s been crazy right now. We just received a shipment of cars today which we had no prior knowledge it was coming this week or even this month. In the past we usually can tell that the car is within 3-5 days of arriving because there is a status showing it is at the port, and it usually leaves the port within that time frame.

However, what I recently noticed is that a few of the cars that came in skipped the whole “at the port” status and just showed up.

We don’t know when the car is on the boat, we just assume that once the VIN pops up it’s loaded and 3 weeks later the “at the port” status shows up.

Anyways I have 6 BRZ’s that are supposed to show up this month but have no VINs. I’ll take a look and see what the timeframe is between the VIN finally showing up and it arriving at dealer or port.

Is there a chance that the vessel noted has some BRZ’s? Yes given how weird the logistics and updates have been. But again, typically the VIN doesn’t show up until the car is on a boat and right now I don’t see any VINs for BRz’s

There are a couple VINs matched. Typically they get matched when they're on the boat, not before. I think we'll see many more VINs get matched in the next week or so.

You have gone way above and beyond to help all of us out with info. I, for one, want to let you know that I appreciate it.

I hope you get yours way early.

Awesome! Glad to hear it is a little help.

Honestly I’m just as clueless in regards to knowing where the cars are/if they’ve already been built. I think having a little insight on Subaru’s logistics from order to delivery is nice especially because a salesperson might just make stuff up or ask a manager and that manager might make stuff up.

For example I know there’s people who were told an exact date for their vehicle’s ETA, but in reality when a car is ordered, the only thing given as far as an “ETA” is the month. Subaru never specifies if it’s the beginning of, end of, the 3rd week of, etc. (The ETA gets sharpened down to an estimated day once a VIN is matched…sometimes gets a revised day-of-ETA if it’s significantly ahead or behind schedule.)

Yes that’s the SOA email. The first ETA will be “last week of (given month).” The SOA emails always tell you the last week

When VIN is ready and scheduled for arrival you’ll get a new ETA will say “on or before (exact date)”

Subaru tells us dealers that the date they give on the emails is 7 days more than the actual estimated date on our pipeline. A lot can happen during logistics so they do this to avoid people setting the expectation of the ETA & disappointed it doesn’t arrive that day.

Thank you. That's good to know. I was expecting the last week of November, but maybe it will be sooner.

Thanks for posting all of this info. It's super helpful and reassuring.

That's dumb. They should stop by you on the way to the mainland.

For sure, but that seems to be the way things go. I'm told November/December since I got on the second-order that went out after they opened up. It'll give the aftermarket folks more time for development though!
