I stand corrected. Phenomenal run at Nats. Especially on the east course. Congrats on 2nd place.

Any general consensus on brake pads? I daily drive my car but also run 70-80 AutoX runs a year and maybe a track day or two...want kind of a jack of all trades brake pad?

That alone kills the "jack of all trades" nature of a pad. I can daily my XP10s easily (they have great bite even dead cold in single digit temps) but they get noisy once the bedded in pad wears off and they always dust like crazy. You won't get away from the noise and dust with any pad that's actually suitable for hard track use. If you're just puttering around you could run something like Ferodo DS2500s or something, but why even go to the track then?

I'm going to use OEM pads for autocross (maybe try Stoptech's street pads or Carbotech 1521s when I wear out OEM) and I'll be stepping up to Carbotech XP12s for track use.

I asked in the CS thread a few months back, I came to the conclusion it's probably best to have a dedicated set of track pads and then hybrid pads for street/autox. Shortlist is Ferodo DS2500, Carbotech AX6, and Project Mu HC800+ for the more aggressive street compounds, Winmax probably has a competitive pad but I'm not sure if it'd be W2/3/4. And I've heard such mixed reviews on Hawks that I'm staying away, although some people love 'em and they are usually a bit cheaper (plus grassroots support with contingency programs and series sponsorships)

If you're easy on track a hybrid pad might be able to do it all, but if you're confidently threshold braking or using the ABS consistently you'll probably fade them within a session.

I have XP10's for the track and I can't keep them bedded in for the street unless I can get them up to temp once a week, which I don't feel comfortable doing on public roads. They were great for AutoX but too loud for me to run them daily. Currently I cheaped out and got PMu NS400's (~$60 cheaper than HC800+) for DD/autoX usage, not sure if they'll hold up to the local big course which should have at least one hard third gear to second gear braking zone per run, which case I'll probably upgrade to the HC800+ or DS2500 for DD/AutoX. Maybe Winmax if a couple ringing endorsements pop up around here for a particular compound.

I love the HC+800. Great for DD even when its cold on my way to work. I have also driven on Carbotec XP8 and Winmax W3. Both were OK but not as good in the morning and not enough initial bite for my liking. I'd probably like the W4 or W5 but doubt I could keep the bedded/not feel sketchy in the morning plus they cost a fair amount more.

HC+800 is cheaper than almost every comparable compound too.

Before I upgraded to the Stoptech BBK, I thought the OEM was plenty good for autocross. I didn't have issues with them.

Echoing all the recent posts. Running HC800 and RBF660 last season and on the courses up here no issues have arisen. HC800 on the track, however, do fade in the 2nd hot lap for me. Perhaps not enough to warrant dedicated track pads? We'll find out this season

So seems like the HC800+ is the pad.

As for my need for a "track day" pad, I think it will be fine. Last track day I ran all day on OEM brakes and noticed some fade and vibration towards the end but they held up surprisingly well. NJMP Thunderbolt is fairly easy on brakes from what I've experienced too...
