Gas Mileage In Pittsburgh Area

When it comes to gas mileage in my FR-S (AT) I am definitely below average. The counter in the car itself floats around 22 MPG, below is some data from fuelly. I started collecting the fuelly data at about 1200 miles. I am not the most fuel efficient driver by any means but I don't think I'm the worst either.

For those familiar with the Pittsburgh area, I live in the North Hills and work downtown. I'm curious to see what other people in the Pittsburgh area are getting in comparison to me to see if maybe I am just a really fuel inefficient driver or if this is normal for the area.

I am about 33% Rt.19, 33% 79 and the rest is back roads on my daily commute a (about 30 minutes). I sit in traffic on the way home for about 10 minutes, same route. I average about 26.5mpg (28.1 on counter). With my winter tires I was down around 23-24mpg. This is with a manual.

Where do you shift about? I'm usually around 3k or 4k. Also do you sit in a lot of traffic?

I have an AT and leave it in the normal non-sport mode most of the time. It generally shifts around the 4k mark. A lot of my driving is on McKnight, so a lot of start and stop. My daily work commute is down babcock/mcknight then onto 279 and downtown.

The two tanks on the fuelly list that are around 250 miles is when I was driving back into WV, so more steady HW driving there but I don't think I've ever been beyond 250-260 miles on one tank. Maybe I am just a horribly fuel inefficient driver? lol

Yeah that seems low. You still running the primacy tires? Gas mileage is pretty darn low for WV trip, I'm assuming you took 79 a fair bit of the way? When I drove to baltimore via 76-70 (I think) I was averaging 33-34mpg at about a constant 75mph. I think the AT was supposed to be better on gas too. There are some other threads on this forum that have had people get similar gas mileage to you. You may want to look through those.

This is a good thread for info - http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showt...ow+gas+mileage

I could see getting lower gas mileage on mcknight. But I'd still think it wouldn't be that low, unless you are flooring it to 4k.

I don't recall ever getting over 250 on a tank either but then again I fill up almost always around 8-9 gallons of fuel. Going close to E gives me anxiety haha.

lots of guys on here with some less-than-stellar MPG numbers. I drive HARD and I can still manage a 27mpg with mixed driving (40% highway/60% city).

What are you guys doing to have such low numbers?

About 20% city| 80% highway I was getting about 34.1 MPG with sticky 245's and the A/C on? I also use Eneos Sustina 0W-20. The oil helps the gas mileage. **NOTE: This was also shifting at about 3k no more than 3.5k at times.**

Car is 100% stock. I drove back to WV for the holiday weekend and managed 293 miles on one tank (next fill up was 10.88 gallons.) That was even with me driving conservatively (in my opinion) most of the time and even using cruise control for a chunk of mileage. I'm just not going to worry about it, if I'm only going to be getting in the low 200 miles per tank then so be it lol.
