The bearings in our cars are pretty good. Heat breaks down everything. If you're not tracking, your wheel bearing should last a very long time.

Iirc the 114.3 bearing is larger and can handle track heat better. The normal bearings are fine IMO just have to replace them more often.

There's also consideration to be taken that since our car is relatively light, having beefier parts such as larger hubs and brakes become less necessary.

I'm an electrical/programming guy, does anyone have a scat link for how the wheel is mounted to the axle, I think with that I would get a better understanding of everything fits together and possibly understand what it would take to have a custom bolt pattern machined without having to use a spacer, spacers to me are not an option but yes I like the wheel choices for 5x114 over 5x100, rotors included.

Making a 5x114 conversion is relatively easy. I don't think anyone's making it because no one's going to fork over the money to get it done. How much would you be willing to pay for a 5x114 conversion when the only benefit is wheel selection?

That's about what I'm paying to get custom billet 5x114 hubs made for my neon. 5x100 really sucks when you need an offset close to 0.

The older Subaru 5x100 hubs were weaker with the pressed in bearing assemblies. They were also prone to failure again shortly thereafter if you installed them incorrectly. The newer bolt in types are much better.

I think you'll see more and more wheels come out due to this car alone.

I have only seen PCD adapters/spacers, never seen a complete 5x114.3 swap kit.

For track use I believe that its better to stay with 5x100 pcd than using adapters.

The 5x100 wheels are out there, almost every wheel maker offers them.

Old thread but FYI Megan / Hardrace used to make a kit but it has been discontinued due to durability issues and not going to be reintroduced

Recently I found the below front 114.3 hubs from a place called T-Demand Japan, but have never heard of T-Demand so not sure how good they might be

I have tested the STI 5x114.3 rears and the bolt up and work sweet the Subaru part number is 28473FG010

I'd rather use an adapter spacer than some of these hubs I'm seeing. That t-demand place seems to have no idea what they're doing, scroll down the page and check out their "roll center adjusters" that actually do nothing, the super stack height camber plates, and the jewelry and phone cases.

Anyway, the awd subaru bolt in 5x100 bearings that started showing up in 05 are not any stronger than the older press in ones, just easier to change. Newer Legacys tend to chew through them. The 5x114 bearings are bigger and stronger, but would not bolt into the frs/brz upright and need a cv and torqued down axle nut to stay together. A dis-assembled outer cv might put a tone ring in the right spot though.

If I really wanted a 5x114 bearing upgrade on one of these I'd consider using parts from some other car like a Z or corvette in a custom upright for the front, assuming you could get abs to work. Then you probably could use rear bearings/hubs from an sti.
