The second method is going to get costly quick if everyone who has the issue has the part diagnosed and fixed even once - to not find a solution means a loss in revenue which is simply not a good business model.

The idea that there are people out there who are willing to suffer this sound because they think it "normal" does not change the fact that I do not believe it to be so, and I spent a portion of my income for something that is not operating at its expected level. Perception is reality, they say in the business world, and that is my perception - the car is an embarrassment because of the sound. It is a blemish on a rose that should be rectified without a need for bickering or disagreement between the parties involved.

That's what I said but better

The fact that they have issued a TSB indicates they have acknowledged the problem.

Not trying to be a downer, but just based on what I've seen out of the car industry in the last 10 years, I don't think they'll ever fix it...why?

-They only recall things once it's caused a few accidents (or fires) or causes enough cars to fail that it's not a coincidence.

example: Nissan 350z - first gen engine overheat/oil consumption with "Spirited" driving. What did they do? TSB... A few warranty repairs then a new engine design 3 years later.

example: RX-8 First gen engine issues. Response? nothing for about 5 years, then they retroactively replaced failed engines in a recall... Mind you, this is a problem that was causing total failure of the engine...

Toyota/Subaru see: Annoying noise that doesn't affect reliability or performance and only occurs in select markets? What do you think the response will be?

Maybe, just maybe, a HPFP redesign rolled into some more serious changes 2-3 years down the line, but I'm betting people in 10 years will look back and say, "Don't get the 2013-2014 models, sound like a squirrel in a tub of crickets. 2015 models are great!"

I tried to convince myself that they might fix it in the next year then I'd be totally satisfied, but you all know damn well what potential buyers look up in google when it comes time to sell these. Which is why I'm bailing while I still can

I originally voted "No" a few weeks ago (~400 mi). But today I heard it for the first time (~850mi). So my vote is a "Yes" now.

Amen to that. The rest of my parts are coming in next week (hopefully). I'm gonna keep bringing it in until they find a fix for it and if it costs Toyota the cost of what I paid for the car then that's their loss.

I got the crick at around 1800 miles. Ordered 6/6/12 and picked up 12/9/12 I'm curious to whether or not there are actually people who don't get them (despite the poll) I'll believe it when i see it.

And what benefit is that really? I could understand if it was something major, but this is no where near serious. I'm convinced that some people like to be difficult.

Ya that's a bit major, but that's only one of a very large number. (Not trying to sound like a prick.) And this happened after it got replaced. Possible install error or contamination maybe? (I'ld like to see the thread.)

Many others have said it already. Some cases go away with milage. My crickets are going away slowly and I'm at 1280mi. Every time you fuss to have it replaced, you restart the process.

Did you not read my response? And as I said, that seems to be an install error. Yes it's serious, but really is a result of bad mechanics. If you actually read the thread, you would have seen that.

I came from a DI car with an intake cam driven HPFP. The shit maked the same noise you all describe....idk why every one is so butt hurt. From stock I put 2 types of aftermarket internals in b/c fueling was the limiting factor for the DISI, with HPFP noise the same acrossed the board. My FR-S has yet to make the HPFP noise @2000mi....but it will not concern me if/when it does.
