I'd say we're debating two separate topics.

Of course it's significantly smarter to study the manual when you buy the car.

However, if we're talking about needing a quick reference to a given topic X time down the road because you don't have a 100% perfect memory, then it's a different story.

I like the paper manual much better than the electronic. I feel more connected to the words and it is much more fun to read. I don't want no computer telling me when I should turn the page and electronic manuals are only good if you have an injury and can't turn the pages on your own. Paper manuals are going away because people are getting lazy and only the true reading enthusiasts still understand how to use paper and find the info they need.

What I found with the owners manual for this car (and I'm sure ALL new cars) is how many pages of WARNINGS!!! there are for every section.

It's like "What is the air pressure?"

Warning, unscrewing tire valve cap may cause air to escape and cap to hit you in the eye.

Warning, tire may deflate if you unscrew the valve cap.

Warning, unscrewing valve cap may cause valve stem to rotate in wheel and deflate tire.

There is SO much legal mumbo jumbo that a 72 page manual has now grown to 2 manuals and over 400 pages............

It's just nuts..........

So what term should one be looking for in the index in this case?

What's the latest version of the PDF manual that covers '12 onward?

The version of the scooby repair manual I got back then was all there if you scroll through the whole thing and hopefully manage to land in the part of it you want.

There is no table of contents. At the front or at the back.
There are no internal links anywhere in the document.

Yea exactly, I had been on this two year or so before I had actually purchased the vehicle, and in that time I had read the manual enough that I knew where, how and what everything did.

All the manuals have indexed links. Or at least all the ones I have pulled up. The repair manual that Ultra has linked in his sig line almost has links that almost drop down to each individual part. Very easy to find what you want if you have even a basic knowledge of nomenclature.

LOL I didn't even know the car existed until an hour before I bought it so there was no chance for that sort of prep.
After I bought the car I took the manual home and read it and did a little research online. Ended up here which lead me a bit astray until I actually drove the car a bit. After joining the forum I thought it "needed" more power and the dip would be crippling but found that wasn't my reality.

Without already knowing what it is, what terms would OP have searched to find that dome shaped thing on the dash?
