No they aren't. They're both 2.5L, but they aren't the same. At the very least, different pistons, b/c the CRs aren't the same. Thus why there's 2 engine models: the EJ255 for the WRX and the EJ257 for the STI. Also, the turbos are different.

Everyone that thinks the WRX is a better car in 2015 is making the right call for themselves. Since the very beginning, the WRX was the better value car for almost everyone considering the WRX and STI. The STI has usually shrived to be more of a motorsports platform for the WRX. Most people don't need the transmission, brakes, differentials and extras the STI adds over the WRX. The different motors just makes it a much easier decision in 2015. If you are building a car for motorsports, you probably want to stick with the proven EJ. At least this gives everyone options on whether to stick with the EJ or build an FA going forward. It should be relatively straight forward to swap between the two in the new chassis which is pretty win-win all the way around.

I think both the 2015 models are nice. I'm with everyone that was hoping for a 350hp FA25DIT or something like that but what we were given makes sense in the grand scheme of things.

Anyone who's doing more than 1 track day in the car will very, very quickly realize that the WRX is strictly a street car.

why is a car made in 2013 being compared to a car made for 2015? when the 2013 version beats the frs anyways? that seems so retarded that my head hurts now.

Seems like there's been a trend lately of manufacturers overpromising and under-delivering.

From this article:

Subaru claims the car can pull 1.10 g in corners—plenty good for an Impreza.

They probably meant peak lateral g, but if so, that's pretty misleading as most places only test sustained lateral g.

Yeah pretty much. I'd say a huge majority of sti drivers never track their cars. What do you think? Nevermind wrx owners. And there is nothing wrong with that. For all these people, the new wrx is great.
