Which part pinches in? I don't see it pinching in anywhere that appears abnormal.

What kind of setup are you running? What made you make the switch and are you happy with the change?

I want to run stock exhaust except catback, really just looking for noise and trying to keep it legal (CA). I'm just hoping to get a little more noise, a little deeper, a little more "racecar". I'm looking to get an Edelbrock SC in the future and I do track the car a few times a year, so the exhaust being less restrictive is a bonus.

I like the sound of both, but the Greddy sounds a little more "racecar" at WOT. Is that true in person?

@justinco is on the hunt for volume/weight and is looking at buying a fifth catback, I think he's looking at TRD now to make sound...
And I am about to give up at this point lol. I've done a LOT of testing of exhaust systems and various setups. Light weight and sound conforming is hard to accomplish without going custom. The custom exhaust I use today is basically 2.5" piping and a stock resonator, with a Magnaflow muffler. It's 26lbs, plenty quiet, and sounds good. It is ugly though and the fitment is not optimal (rattles against the tunnel).

What I really want to do is a new custom exhaust, with the stock resonator, and a similar Magnaflow muffler, but one that has a center inlet on the muffler - like a Perrin or TRD (minimize piping). I cannot find one of these mufflers by itself though to save my life, but if I do, I will make it!

I know it's not magnaflow like but spintech will custom make a muffler like that. Only manufacturer I know off hand that will run small batch custom jobs and not be insanely priced. Vibrant has a casing like that too and its a packed muffler.

I somehow lucked out and found a TRD muffler with tips and made a full 2.5 inch stainless catback with an slp resonator included.

Thanks! TRD was the other one I was thinking about (and putting my own tips on) because I know those work from having it on my FRS. Miltek was another, but kind of expensive.

Main picture on that page.... have no idea how that would sound, and the casings are not the lightest but I have always wondered, lol.

Tried that. Sounded like garbage lol.

I dont know if it was due to the mileage of the muffler or my specific set-up, but the q300 sounded like a Honda with a pea shooter before hitting VTEC lol

Some AutoX venues also have limits, at which point options become very limited, with stock exhaust always being the cheapest option.
Ok, I am building for STX AutoX, but I also like to get some track time in and that limit is 92 db at one of the available venues.

There is some flex to that 92db limit, here are the rules:

Screening Test – After a brief visual muffler check, a stationary test is undertaken. Sound levels will be measured 15 feet in front and behind the vehicle while the engine is revved at the maximum allowable rpm or the red line of the tachometer.
Cars, the average should be no more than 100 dbA with no single reading over 104 dbA.
Motorcycles, the average should be no more than 98 dbA with no single reading over 100 dbA.

Pass-by Test – With the vehicle under full acceleration on the track, a reading will be taken from 50 feet. The maximum level allowed is 92 dbA. This level and standard is the most commonly used in North America and Europe and is where the entire industry is headed. Tests are valid for 9 months unless modifications to vehicle are made.

It's not the same ID. Unfortunately I'm not at home to take a picture of mine...

NO WAY! Did you have a resonated or catted front pipe? I have an OFH, invidia over pipe, invidia resonated front pipe and an Invidia Q300. To quote ATaraxias, it sounds like a choir of rumbly angels. That is the perfect way to describe that amazing sound.

I would have suggested my setup earlier in this thread but the Q300 is heavy heavy. And the OP is looking for something light.

Tomei UEL, Motiv OP, Berk catted FP, Q300.

I've heard other q300 set-ups that sounded better, but in my case it sounded terrible.
