I had the exact same sound when I first got my BRZ and drove on the interstate.

For me, it was the panels under the car on the passanger side (US model). Over here the panels under the car do not cover the entire under body as they do in Japan. Because of this they have some play up and down, and can rattle at highway speed.

Some have added thicker washers to stop the movement. I used clear caulk at points around the panel to keep them from moving.

Sound gone!

Pictures would be awesome if you could manage that. I think a lot of owners, including me, have this problem but we all think it's in the rear deck. This is one of the better threads I've read on finding a solution to this problem. Thanks for everyone's input.

You mean the fiber under "tray" that sits under the transmission? I had that one too, and fixed it with the same rubber washers I used for the fender liners.

Hello!!!!

Today I tested the change recommended by roddy ...

The noise seems totally disappeared!!

I tried up to 90mph and no noise has appeared!

I do not want to be hasty, but 99% is solved!

Matteo

I know what I will be doing this weekend. I always thought that noise was coming from the parcel shelf. I've removed that thing to crack & grease welds so many times I lost count. But after listening to OP's video, that is the exact rattle I have had to listen to every day for the past year. I could not stand driving on the highway because once I got to cruising speed non-stop rattle. I'm so glad I stumbled upon this thread.

Good to see it worked for you. I hated that sound.

I first wrote about this not long after I got the car (almost a year and a half ago), and a couple of times since then. It really took a lot of joy out of driving this car at speed. To be honest, I'd kind of forgotten about it. I'm glad you posted up...the fix is so cheap and easy, I hope some of the other people reading this give it a try. Keep some of those washers around...I've used them to cure rattles and buzzes in a few places now

Yep that one. At first I secured the liners around the wheels but it was only after I stopped the under tray from moving did all the sound go away.

Good to hear you are quiet now.
