That is not enough to cause this. you're talking about the water collected in between the pleats of the filter. Now if it was angled up it could have started to fill the pipe.

I checked all silicone couplers and everything was secure. I don't understand how that much water got in there other than it was leaking through the hood crack and onto the filter.
I'm just hoping to god I don't have any issues other than my maf sensor being fried. I'm uploading a video of how much water came out of my intercooler. It's quite mind boggling. I was actually trying to think of a way to shield the air filter. You know with like one of those heat shields? Except for running water. May look into it. Like this: http://www.carid.com/spectre-air-int...otcaAlhM8P8HAQ I contacted FBM about the issue and they had said they haven't heard of any other issues like this. So I don't know. :/ |

Here is the video of the water coming out of the intercooler piping. I literally pulled it off and water poured out.

Thats too much water to have been from the filter IMO.
Stick a piece of paper or dollar bill on the bumper then close the hood on it. Can you pull it out? If there is remotely any resistance when pulling then there isn't going to be enough water getting though there. Food for thought... I know some have had problems with ice build up in intercoolers in cold climates, ford's eco boost have been having this problem as well as a ton of VW's. VW's TSB fix was a drawing air from inside the engine bay, and a temp controled vaccum actuator system. Ford's TSB fix is basicly a plate that covers 1/3 of the IC with a slight alteration to the cold-start tune. Basically they said the intercooler was being too efficient so by restricting airflow they were able to keep the air warmer preventing condensation. This was apparentely also caused by the cold climate combined with the EGR pumping wet exhaust gasses back into the system and the way the vehicle was driven. Apparently if you maintain a steady speed for a long period (such as a few hours a 70mph in 6th gear) or continuious airflow with a reduced load on the engine. Just throwing it out there.

I'll try that paper trick when I can.
I'm almost positive it came through the air filter. There was standing water on the black strip that bolts the front bumper down. It even has a slight bit of rust around where the bolts bolt down. The holes that are right there where those bolts are are right above the air filter. I'm not just talking wet either. It was standing water sitting on that area. Like a little puddle. Next time your car has been sitting outside during a heavy rain or storm, go out and open your hood and see if there is any water right there along that strip. If you run your hand along that black strip while the hood is closed, you'll feel that it goes down on the left and right sides slightly. Right above where the filter sits. I wish I could describe that better. |

I've been thinking about it... If you take an intercooler and pressure wash it. Will it accumulate the water. If yes, then the problem is obvious. If no, then either the clamps are not tighten and little water dissipated in it. Other option, water got in the air filter through the hood cracks or from under the car. Do you have you factory underbody? |
