KW V3, Height and Setups.
I know it's impractical but i want to get these but on a close to a 1 finger gap. if possible half a finger. I rarely go to the track although i do spirited driving all the time and i would like to atleast have a "comfortable" slight drive going to school on a daily basis.
https://ibb.co/b4DvuJ https://ibb.co/fpk8EJ Here's what my current setup is on ST coils with 18x8.5 +45 rota titans, But i ordered a set of TE37 sagas with +42 to make it less sunken. If you guys have any pictures of flushed set ups on the V3's Please do post. thankyou and more power to everyone on this group!! |

Here are a few random photos of my car on KW V3s. I'm not quite as low as you want to go, but mine are at the HIGHEST I was allowed to go in the official height-adjustment range documentation, so obviously there is room to go down to the height you're looking for.
For reference, these are 18x9+40 wheels, with 255/35 tires. -2.5F/-2.0R camber. I'm running on Raceseng CasCam camber plates up front, and OEM rear top mounts, along with the Verus adjustable rear LCAs. (Some of these photos are from FB, so I'm not sure how long they'll stick before the URLs change.)

Mine are set to 25.25" ground to fender all around, -3.2*F and -2.3* R. I'm running 225/45/17's so slightly taller than stock. I set mine to 28mm lower front and 25mm lower rear (based on the highest suggested setting being 20mm lower). After they settled I tweaked a bit to get the even fender heights with my weight in the driver's seat.

I run my RCE T2's at 13" hub center to fender. They have stiffer springs than the current KW V3's, but are the same physical design. I have mine setup for Autocross, but this ride height is still practical for street and looks pretty good too.

Do you have pictures? BTW do you mind me asking, I purchased a set of TE37 sagas 18x8.5 +45 and 18x9.5 +43. thinking of running spacers for the front (3mm) but cant seem to find them. should i order it on ebay or just stick with 5mm? is there a big difference?

I recently installed a brand new pair of KW V3’s, and paired them up with the Raceseng tophats.
I can’t for the life of me figure out why the fronts have turned my car into a monster truck. It is suppose to be a 0.8” -2” drop. I have lowered them as low as I can go and they are barely pushing a 0.6” drop from stock. (My RSR Lowering springs sat much lower) The only thing I wasn’t positive on setting up, is when I put the top hats on, I lowered the perch collar completely so it was easier to install them, then adjusted them back to where they were suppose to be according to the docs (~3” from center bolt to perch) Maybe I’m suppose to use a spring compressor and put the top hats on at while the spring perch is adjusted up more (like 2.5-3” I think is what it came). That way it is “compressed when I make my adjustments? When adjusting the spring perch, I feel like I can move about 1” on the spring perch for about a 1/4” of ride height. I’m not confident, but that seems really wrong. The rears seem to be very low, I had to raise them all the way to try and get it to balance out the monster truck fronts. The Rears seem like they are normal however, I’m just adjusting them to try to balance out the fronts. Here is a bunch of photos I have taken. (I added comments on the photos to explain them). https://www.icloud.com/sharedalbum/#B0vGrq0zwJIOYWw |

The upper kw spring perch is supposed to be used with the OEM top hat, the raceseng interface is different so you need a flat spring perch (probably best to get it from raceseng) to get back into the useable height adjustment range.
If you don't want to spend the $60 or whatever you can pull the tender spring out and adjust from there. It's just there so the springs don't rattle around when you jack up the car or take it over sweet jumps you'll be fine without it. Edit: your 1":.25" ratio indicates to me you've collapsed the spring into it's linear realm, you won't get meaningful height adjustment until you've taken the 'pre load' out which makes sense given the mismatch spring perch/camber plate situation you have right now. Thank you so much for confirming that. Ironically I've been debating that being the issue and already ordered Raceseng's spring perch and perch bushing! They will be here Friday!
FYI I contacted Raceseng prior to my post and they confirmed I didn't need their spring perch and bushing. They didn't say if it would increase my height though, weird they would say that if I purchased it forr the KW's directly. Though it does make sense because the rear ones I didn't use KW's either. When looking at the diagrams in Raceseng's photos, they use the ones with their own spring perches. It does appear like it is "flat" instead of "cone" shaped like the KW's came with. It doesn't look like it would make up 1.5" of height though so we will see! FYI the helper spring is completely flat (smashed) right now. I thought I could remove it, but it would be very loose if I did this unless I adjust the preload. Is that OK to remove it and then simply move the lower spring perch up to ensure their isn't slack? I'm sure it won't be "in spec" according to KW anymore... but I imagine I could at least get my ride height adjustments. Finally, thank you for confirming that this could cause my "ratio" issue. I've always made sure to purchase coils that have independent ride height and pre-load. I've never had to adjust or be familiar with setups that have pre-load and ride height together! |

Yes. Kw spring perch range measurements is based on OEM top hat and meeting tuv retirements. They will not be applicable now that you're playing with camber plates or pulling the helper spring.
The nice thing about single perch is that you won't fuck up bump/droop with the lower perch adjustments (been there, done that). Set the spring perch for the height you want and enjoy. BTW oe height at the fender is 26.5" looks like in the picture you're at 25" up front which is a pretty deep drop already, these are not designed to go super low. |
