See what happened with British Airways? Yea those fuckers never learn anything.

I think in IT the truly safest job is probably working with Mainframes but that's 12 hour shift work and its biggest enemy is automation.

They provided a more detailed explanation of the position and, not trying to be cocky, but I can say its relatively easy. (We shall see once I start)

I have tried but because of my experience, or lack thereof comparatively, its fair pay. They essentially laid everything out on the table and mentioned put in good work, you will be rewarded. I mean free IT certs with double bonus for achieving them? Never heard of that before.

Also, I am glad I heeded everyone's advice to wait before quitting current job months back, new one does look better in just about every category - especially the work/life balance

Didn't read up on British Airways, ill check it out.

I did receive plenty of cautious words from industry vets back in school about how there are no safe jobs in IT. Just got to keep on the up and up and not let skills go stale. Essentially, don't be content in job..

Can that one guy in the suspension threads with a 2013 BRZ remember the human on the other side of the internet and deflate his ego a bit. Jeez, I just want to read a few threads without his constant belligerent anecdotes. Sorry for the vent.

Just read all that, kinda wish I didn't. Luckily, I mostly come on here to post in off topic nowadays

Every so often, I search old threads for mechanical stuff.

Got offer letter today. Will be working hours that'll allow me to study for industry certs again and go back to school to finish degree. I'll get paid to get certs if I pass. Quarterly performance cash bonuses and good retirement account plan. They showed me around and looks like a good place to work overall.............
No, but I would have.

That job sounds like a good move for you.

As far as buying a house in the Seattle area ...... you might want to consider holding off on that ....... I'm ah feared Seattle is blowing itself another housing bubble.

You might find yourself more comfortable, in a nice apartment or maybe a condo......while you're young, single, no children and upwardly mobile.

Wise words from wise man!

I do hope there is another bubble and it pops so I can pick up houses on the cheap, though people lost a lot of jobs back in 2008 (as best as I recall, junior in hs )

Very lucky I have parents who don't mind me living at home still, as long as I'm not a bum. Planned on moving out next year but that plan is derailed kinda.

The real test would be if the rates would really go up in the near future, but I'm certain no indebted 1st world nation can even afford that these days without going bust.
