I don't know what's up with older model civics, but lately they been coming at me hard! In two different occasions we take off and they get a head start (stock tires). Shift to 2nd and I start to creep up, once I hit 3rd, I just fly by. Gave them a thumbs up, but wouldn't even look at me.
Probably would have been a different story if it wasn't for my EL e85 tune

This happened a few minutes ago.

My husband took my car to work today, he's a police officer. He was at a stop light and had a guy in a Taurus SHO pull up beside him, roll down his window and say, "Wanna race bro?"

My husband rolled down the window, looked at him and said, "You really wanna race a cop?" and the dude was like "Uh... never mind."

Well there's a first time for everything - just earlier today I had an 'encounter'. Was on a 2 lane feeder road getting ready to turn off at an exit area for an overpass and a newer Challenger R/T was exiting off from the freeway onto the feeder. So he was in the left lane and I was in the right and we basically end up side by side once he merged on (had to be a he...you'll see...). Well I take the turn like normally... speeding up to 70 mph (from about 60mph) at the first part of the curvy S-section in 4th gear. I sense the Challenger R/T coming in quickly too but he stays back through the curvy S-section as I brake to slow down for the upcoming light/intersection.

So right as I'm about done slowing down, about to stop behind the two cars in front of me in the right lane, I see him coming up fast and slowing down hard. He has two cars in the LH lane in front of him as well and just before coming to a stop revs/blips the motor like a maniac. Then the 'fun' starts...he stands on the brakes and does a full burn out with tons of smoke for about 10 second, then stops and continues with the revving until the light turns green and we turn onto the overpass. Either he thought I was some kind of exotic car or he had an idea of what the car is and was just trying to show some 'bravado'/intimidation... either way a complete ASS.

And it didn't look like he took the best care of the car either - front end looked all jacked up like the bumper/splitter caught on something and separated from the fender while backing up. Nice big shiny wheels with rubber band tires too... I'll leave it to your imagination as to what followed after the light turned green and we got onto a straight section of road and the Challenger R/T had (...er... or made through aggressive driving around two cars...) clear traffic in front of him. Oh you didn't have to imagine that?! LOL

I just wish there was a police officer around at the intersection...

Just picked mine up this weekend but one thing I was very fearful about before buying was this very thing, every dumbass trying to race me on the road. Fortunately in my driving since, I've been (mostly) treated like I'm driving any other car. Getting cut off significantly more, but that just reminds me of Miata ownership.

Had a brand new Scion TC owner challenge me to a 0-60 the other day.
He followed me for a while and then pulled next to me at a stop light. He was complimenting my car and asked if I would do a race with him.
I was in the middle of replying when the light turned and he took off.
I took off late, no revs, no clutch drop.
Lost the 0-60 by half a car length.
He had an auto and got the jump on me.
I was slowly gaining on him but my late start was too much to compensate for.

I was at a light- dude pulls up in a slammed civic- the light turned green, we then xxxxx_____xxxxxxx______xxxxxx---------. It was over in less than 10 seconds. XXX---- xxxxx won.
