Monogram Series or 2.5L FR-S

Hello fellow FT86ers! I've been following this forum from the start of everything GT86. Love this forum. I currently drive a 2003 Celica GT which I have been the original owner from 2003 and have 91,000 km on my car.

I am debating whether the purchase of the current FR-S or upcoming Monogram series is worth the upgrade from my 140hp Celica GT or do you think I should wait until the release of the 2.5L FR-S release. Nothing wrong with my current vehicle, just wondering other peoples' thoughts on waiting or purchasing over the next 6 months or so. My car runs great and I've never had any problems with it. Will I find much of a difference in acceleration & torque in the current FR-S compared with my 140hp Celica. Or is it not really much of a difference and therefore do you think I should wait...

The GT86 looks to be my dream car but there is so much debate around HP & low torque.

Have you even driven it yet? But I say if your car is running fine wait it out as long as possible and see what becomes official rather than "what might be".

I haven't driven the FR-S yet. I don't have a Scion dealership in town, but there is a Subaru dealership. I may have to go and test drive one

No such thing as a 2.5L FR-S, yet.

Go test drive the car, see if you like it, if not, stick with the GT and wait for more details about the 2015 model, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

If money is a problem with you then save up for a new sport car in the future. If not then go test drive one first. With that kind of mileage I would drive it for another good 50,000 miles.

Well, Tada-san has said they might improve the engine for future models, but there's no guarantee it will happen in 2015 or ever happen at all..

I guess the question is, would you be more dissappointed if you buy now and there's an improved version in 1 year, or you wait for 1 year and there's no improvement?

I've driven an FRS 2x and found it to be plenty of torque for squirting around town. I was actually impressed. I think most of the nay-sayers are owners that want more for highway use and track times...

I Came From A 2004 Celica GT So I think my opinion is important. The power is so much better then my celi and the car is better in every aspect. I still have my blue celica its kinda sad to leave my house and get into my frs, I feel like my celi is crying on the inside.

I still like my Celica after 10 years, but I love the looks of the GT86 so much more. I have sat in a new BRZ, but have yet to test drive. I just would hate to purchase the car to find out it is rear-wheel drive but goes the same speed...
