.... but with all that being said they will fight you to the death over warnetee issues if they can as they make more money when they make you pay for it vs toyota. I pay them to do it so I have records and I am also lazy hahha!! |

Me too. You say it's a rip off but, for me, when I factor in the inconvenience of doing the maintenance myself and that if I ever have a warranty issue they will have less ground to fight me over it, I would rather pay more and just let them do it. Oil changes are the only thing I'll likely continue to do.

Ya. I knew about niy being able to void it if you can prove you did the oil changes. I'll prolly be doing those myself as u don't trust most mechanics not to do things the easy way vs the right way.

If you end up doing the oil changes yourself, pick up a fumoto quick valve or similar. Combine that with our ever-so-convenient top mounted oil filter and oil changes are an absolute breeze. I don't even need to jack up the car.

I dropped my car off for its 32K service today. They told me Toyota recommends a wheel alignment on top of the service ($44 just to check). It doesn't seem like my car needs one so I refused it. Anyone else get asked this?

Toyota service is a joke, I get it done at VEX with my oil changes. I'm surprised they let you use your own oil. I went for a "free" one and asked them to install my magnetic oil plug and remove the OEM one. They wouldn't do it.

Yeah, its not a bad idea to have it checked. Mine didn't seem out but it was at around 30k so I had it done when I got new tires. Worst part is rear camber is slightly out too, and no way to set it. One of the reasons I can't wait to install my LCA's and coilovers in the spring haha!

Maybe they are a little laid back now, but when I got my car the idiots didn't even know what my car was, the service advisor asked me if my car was a v6.

That's brutal. I would be scared walking away from my car if they said that to me today. So far I haven't had any problems with the dealership.

White BRZ with the plate LOLFA20 on John Laurie today. I was the guy who tried to pass everyone and realized there was a cop at the front of the line and turned off real fast lol.

I am hoping to find a realistic owner who can let me know if the FRS/BRZ makes a good daily driver in Calgary. I have owned a number of RWD cars in the past (S2000, Z4, M3) with a small number of winter driving issues, but since then my lifestyle, needs and wants have changed.
I am currently in a BMW and have been driving BMW's for the past 10 years, prior to BMW ownership I was a Toyota owner and loved the cars. Trying to reduce costs in the poor Calgary market and I don't want to find a part time job to keep the BMW. |
