what is the expected life of the batteries? Are replacements readily available? How much are they each?

Don't know about battery life yet but I would expect that is not much different from a regular. There more readily available to guys in the states then us in Canada, go to power sonics website.

Quick update, I went for some long drives last night. I was able to do many back to back 2-5 gear pulls, each time took about 2 seconds to ramp back to 27. X, this weekend will be a good test when I head out for a cruise with the guys, there all 250whp+ so I'm always WOT to keep up lol

Two for the dump pack.
One for the starter, or a PC680 Odyssey (better case strength).

VW, nearly 2 years, no degradation.

After solid 2 hours of cruising, insane amount of WOT 2-6 gear pulls, ramp up was very fast, never had to wait for it, boost was always ready and available. We spent majority of the time on the high way so there was lots of WOT in 5th and 6th as well from low rpm. I had full time boost.

We had a full line up of cars tonight, K20 type R integra I/h/e, civic EK k20 I/h/e dyno tuned, 350Z 3.5L I/full exhaust and flash, S2000 comptech supercharged, V8 Audi S4 intake exhaust, 400whp built prelude, S14 sr20 270whp, and an ISF.

Usually in left in the dust, this time around kept up with everyone just fine, especially from low speed, held with the S4 of the line till 3rd and didn't get to go any further, 350 pulled car ahead by the end of 3rd but stayed with him pretty decently, again with the K20 guys held side by side until 210 I was able to pull ahead a little bit.

What's really fun is the corners, stayed right in there with my stock suspension and tires easily.

In short, was not able to out drive the batteries supply or charge time. Felt as if I had full time boost! Kept right up there with all the big boys.

Now I really want to buy headers.......

Going to bed!

I need this! Thank you guys for leading the way in R&D!

I can't wait for the preorders to open up and then hopefully take it down to Dynosty for tuning.

Well it's almost a week since installing the second charge, I really don't bother looking at the gauge anymore, this system has no issues with gear to gear pulls, I've have done a very good amount of 1-3, 2-5th back to back testing, I never had issues without the second charge unit too, so I think it will benefit the track /auto X guys but anyone using this on the daily, chances are you will not out drive the charge speed.

Rob is in no hurry to release this system, he's a one man team that does this on the side, he's got a full career and business to run, he really does this for a hobby, so I can say that until everything is 100 percent with all the testers, it won't be released. As bad as that sounds is a good thing, lay thing you want is another SRT racing scenario where they chew off more that they can bite and everyone is left hanging.
Hang in there guys, once everything is sorted you will be able to get your hands on it

Ya no kidding, it was easy when I was 18, but the only time the roads are empty are late. All though we were hooning we only do it where if something happens no one else can get hurt other then us making the choice to do so.

would changing the alternator and the batteries for the phantom to Super capacitors be better for this type of setup?

While it has been said may times throughout this thread, I guess it still needs to be repeated every few pages:

The eCharger is for those who are interested in momentary boost and it will not compete head-to-head with full-time high output solutions (turbocharger or supercharger). The laws of physics can not be changed, even with a massive alternator and super capacitors. You can't get more then you put in. Further, even if this system ran at an unrealistic 99% efficiency, that still leaves a 1% drain on the charging system.

This is an "inexpensive" low-boost alternative. Adding super capacitors puts the system into a price range where a turbocharger or supercharger make a lot more sense.
