Unless you drive something a little higher end on the brand like an M3 or something, I dont think most people care.
Most people have no idea what the trim levels of BMWs are. Most people see any and figure it is expensive. Hell, most people probably can't tell you if one is brand new or 20 years old.

Why? we need our monthly MT vs AT flame fest sparked by a perfectly innocent remark. It is tradition.

How else can the MT elitists express their need to be one with the car and show their total lack of knowledge in how a modern sport AT works?

I rather enjoy the passion shown by both sides.

That's true the flame festival is always entertaining, coming from an old school Supra it was the engine debates 1jz vs 7m

People just take MTs so seriously. I come from an era when they were so common they were still called Standard transmissions. They now have developed a mystic that is just not warranted. Two of the fastest cars I ever owned were ATs (albeit far from stock ones) and I never felt any less connected to the car because of them.
Now... if we were talking MT vs CVT I would be singing a different song.

You aren't wrong. But honestly for people like that , the FRS is pretty exotic they got no idea wtf a Scion is. When I got my FRS my neighbor was shocked to hear it was under $30k , He thought it would be AT LEAST $50k
