What size tires should I get for my new wheels?

Hey guys, I'm just about to order some 17×9 +35 offset wheels for my stock body BRZ and was looking into tires, what size tires should I get for the new rims? Mostly what profile should i get? I want the height of the sidewall to be more or less the same, but don't really understand what profile is other than it has something to do with that, thanks!

245/40 is the same height. 255/40 is still fine to fit also but will be slightly taller. You can go into the wheel/tire subforum to see what that will look like on other cars and even better use this: https://www.ft86motorsports.com/wheelitfit/
At stock height, it will really be poking out there with that offset wheel you are ordering. If going with coils or springs you'll be fine though. Springs will need camber bolts to get it looking right in front though.

Yeah, wheels are confusing after you consider the wheel dimensions are in inches, tire width is millimeters, the wheel offset is generally in millimeters measured off a phantom centerline, and then the tire sidewall is a percentage of the overall width...

It's like mfg's have gone out of their way to make it difficult.

I've used www.willtheyfit.com to check fitment as well as the link impure posted
