FRS/BRZ vs. Cobalt SS

Since it became such a big topic in the "Come race me bro" thread, I decided to create a thread for those wanting to talk about the Cobalt SS.

The floor is yours @Brzetto, @fatoni,

well i never said that the cobalt is the car i prefer. im only a member of two car forums and neither of those are for cobalts. in a "come race me bro" encounter, the cobalt is better. you can be disgusted by it or not but the cobalt just goes around a track faster.

i dont get how so many people can scoff at people for not getting it when they criticize the frs but then turn around and use the same kind of behavior. its just a little simple of poeple.

Horsepower can't save a cobalt. Pig with a lipstick in my opinion, such a bad car. The value is not too bad though, they are so cheap.

In a straightline for sure. But if you are focused on straightline acceleration a Mustang GT would embarrass a Cobalt... And as much as I don't like the retro Mustang styling, I would take it all day long over a Cobalt:

yeah, just like the s2000 and 240sx and supra and rx7 and mr2 and alltrac celica and 510 and 240z and e-type and elise and eventually the frs. cars get discontinued. the cobalt is gone because the cruze is here.

Wrong on the Supra and RX-7, those were discontinued because the dumbassed manufacturer priced them right out of the market, both were getting prohibitively expensive thus nobody wanted to pay $40,000-$50,000 for those two. The others were discontinued because the same idiots erroneously thought nobody wanted performance cars anymore. There will always be a desire for performance cars.

Fatoni is right if you go pure lap times, ~8:30 vs. 9:10 stock for stock at Nurburgring. But that definitely doesn't make the Cobalt a better car, especially when you start slapping mods on both.

(Also, that was a damp lap for the twins).

Do a tune, tires, and a few bolt-ons (exhaust and intake) and you're very competitive NA for a pretty cheap price.

Start throwing on some boost, and you're even or tearing apart the SS with equal modification.

I really am not a fan of the cobalts but the SS TC are quick cars and that ecotec (or however its spelt) motor is one of the best 4 cylinders out there

Stock tires are the absolute weak point of our cars when competing for time.
