So how picky are the dealerships on warranty with these cars for mods?

As far as I'm concerned, same as the rest. I had issues with Mitsubishi on my heavily modded Lancer years back, but it will vary from one dealer to the next. I haven't had my BRZ in on any warranty issues, but I can only guess how things would go

Toyota told me things like exhausts and intakes are okay provided it doesn't mangle or retain permanently (which is way I welded a complete new muffler section so I can return to stock if need be)
But major power adders like ECU Reflash (I think tunes are okay as long as you can reverse it) and turbos will only void warranty if they part under question was directly related to the turbo |

Yeah I'm tuned and in all fairness, I've seen how intelligent some of these mechanics are when they're working on your car. In fact, when I got my first oil change done at Auto Gallery, the tech had to look to the owners manual to see what oil to throw in my car. It says the grade of oil right on the dam oil cap. The point is, out of sight, out of mind. If they can't see the mod, your probably ok. My throttle body went on my Lancer a few years back, the tech and service dept. at Dilawri MITS wanted to blame it on my CAI. I said BS and they ended up replacing it, but a dealer will find whatever reason they can not to cover something if they can. So when we bring our modded cars in for warranty, this sometimes gives them the upper hand if they want to be dinks. They technically have to prove the mod is directly related to the warranty claim to deny you, but they can make things difficult if they choose to I would probably be ok with all my mods so far, I can easily flash back to stock. This is one of the biggest reasons I have not gone FI as of yet. Want to wait until I'm near the end of my warranty before adding a SC or turbo

btw if any of you new guys are looking at getting a tune for your FRS/BRZ, I have an ECUTEK cable and Dongle up for grabs, I no longer use it as I have OFT now. If you pickup my cable and dongle, you will still need to buy a licence and tune from a tuner. Lot's of them here in the forums. Getting a custom tune is probably one of the single best things you can do for our cars, fixes a lot issues that Toyota/Subaru left unaddressed and gives a nice boost in hp/torque with stock intake, don't waste money on aftermarket intakes. A tune and a decent drop in filter will net you some nice gains
Let me know if anyone is interested, looking for around $300 for the pair

Yeah no prob. let me know if you want it. Check around in the forums here with a few vendors if you wish beforehand to check cost of licence and a tune. Just let them know you have cable and dongle already. Top of my head, there's Delicious Tuning and Moto-East, but there are others too. I had a couple of tunes from two different tuners at one time, but those guys are no longer around, so I can't recommend them anymore
