The problem with the stock limiter is if you stay on it you loose 4-5 mph if you stay on it.

I had perrin fix it with the tune.

That is the symptom, not the problem.

Wow just hit the rev limiter today and it was definitely disconcerting at first. I'll have to pay more attention to the shift light from now on.

also my gt-s has a fairly high compression at
11.5:1 with a lightweight flywheel and i don't get verry much of a slam feeling. But I also wonder if part of that is because the gt-s is at it's top RPM and is at the down side of it's power curve, where the FRS not so much.
I thought there was a way to make the shift light sound a beep as well?
Anyone know how to enable this? Also, is the rev limiter built in it seems?
(Just started looking this up.) Hey good to see someone coming from a Celica GT-S to an FR-S, I'm coming from a GT and was wondering how much improved this car is over my Celica. I think I should be fine...

You can fix the "harshness" with a tune. I don't remember the details, but Bob @ Circuit Motorsports took care of this for me.

The Open Flash Tablet by Vishnu tuning has a soft rev limiter. It feels like the engine is at the end of it's power curve.

As above

Having just done a 600km day of driving with a bunch of supercars through the mountains, my car was on the limiter the entire day to keep up haha.

But i do have the openflash E85 tune and the rev limiter is far far nicer. Instead of the abrupt hit, it just get to the set limit and refuses to rev further, pulling all the timing.

It is very well improved over the gt. And well over I the gts. My girlfriends FRS definitely launches better from a dead stop than my gts and way out handles it.

But I make up for it because of my supercharger.

Anyone know if you can tune in a soft ignition limiter with Ecutek?
On the GM side there are stand alone ignition limiters like MSD which will cut spark. Basically a two step. I used this method on my last turbo car for building boost off the line, and as a limiter.

Yes, you can. Ecutek has launch control and allows you to set an RPM independent of the redline. It also gives people the ability to change how the rev limiter works so it's not so harsh.

Isn't that why you put it in "sport mode"? It gets more RPM out of each gear and better optimizes the torque curve for 0-60. The only price is MPG. Well, I think something like that is approximately correct. Comments?

No, Sport Mode is simply a slightly less intrusive traction/stability control. And by slight I mean a kunt hair.

Rev limiter keeps you from killing your engine with the gas pedal.

Nannies keep you from killing your car with the gas pedal.
