As soon as a fix is out there I will be the first to blast it all over the forums, believe me.

P.S there are many temporary fixes for it and some people never get the issue however i believe those people dont drive hard at all. mine only started after my first canyon run after 1k miles when i broke the 5k rpm mark. Swapping out gas to get different ethanol ratings is one of the most common fixes but honestly too costly in the long run for a problem that causes no damage to your engine.
Lets tell everyone that the harder you drive your car, the louder the crickets are. Pretty soon we'll have people hooking up cricket amplifiers. It'll be just like the fake electronic BOVs on Neon SXTs!

Both my brother an I have BRZs. We bought them both used. His had 40k miles on it and mine has 6k miles. I noticed that mine chirps and he doesn't. I looked under the hood and it looks like his BRZ has something next to the engine to silence the chirping that mine does not have

Has anyone suffered any major problems with the engine because of it? If not then I'll just let it be.

The only major problems that have arisen have been when people tried to fix it. One bad fix in particular led to a car leaking fuel and catching fire.

So, as the classic engineering saying goes, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."

It doesn't bother me most of the time because I listen to music 95% of the time. But if I had to listen to that 100% of the time it would annoy me big time.

Several people, myself included, have noticed they disappeared with mileage presumably as the fuel pump 'wears in' or 'breaks in'

I've had 27,000+ silent miles after the roughly 10k mark with only a few days of resurgence since then.

I spoke with my service manager today as well as my lead tech and they said that engineers from japan have come over to collect all the "defective" fuel pumps to study and collect data from to attempt to fix the issue but have had no luck. Just chalk up the crickets with the massive oil comsumption on most other subies and call it a day.

I know some of you are aware of this already, but thought it might help some newbies. I've been able to make the crickets go away by using ethanol free gas. It's usually about $0.70 more expensive than E10, but I feel like it's worth it. It only takes about half a tank to kill the crickets, so I alternate between E0 and E10 when filling up.

Or you could save the $.70/gallon (which, translate to an average fill-up, is a $7 difference) and just, as the kids say...
