1) Door stays that keep the doors from slamming into your shin if you park on a 5 degree incline.

I did.

Seriously. I bought this car to drive tens of thousands of miles per year for work. It's almost perfect as an extremely practical daily driver.

A hatch would increase the utility, and the car is shaped right for it. I wouldn't want it if it increased the weight or decreased stiffness, but all other things being equal why would you not want a larger cargo opening?
