Finishing off those Prius Tires
With over 22,000 miles on the original Prius tires that came with my BRZ, it is time to move on to real tires.
The question is, what should I do to them before replacing them? Looking for entertaining suggestions (what did you do?) and advice on when to call it a day. Things that come to mind: 1. Try a little drifting (haven't tried it before) 2. Donuts (never done one before) 3. Peel out a few times Aside from figuring out when to stop fooling around so I can at least make it to the tire shop, my only other challenge will be finding a suitable playground for said activities. |

My buddy used to do doughnuts in his STi in an empty shopping lot, the store had closed down, you could try for a place like that.
I would be warry when trying to take of some...extra...tread as to finish off the tires, try not to destroy your clutch. That being said...doughnuts unless you've drifted before, don't want to be slamming onto any on coming traffic now do we

Skid pads and large open lots. Wait for water. Remember to be safe when going sideways. Have fun!

What happens if you're out in some remote parking lot spinning in circles and you blow your tires?

You'd be surprised on how long they'd last, the treadwear on these tires are better then what most of us would be used to on a normal performance tire and their low low tread ratings...
A friend once joked... The kid with the spiky hair changes tires every 6 months, the guy with the shaved face changes his tires every 4 years.

I'd sell em or donate em.. unless you just want to put some stress on the axles and re enact some Dukes of Hazzard scenes?

Currently the tires are far too worn to donate or try selling. I'll probably keep it just a few donuts and call it good. Appreciate the feedback.
