You're right, I believe it does. I'd prefer to tether via bluetooth though as it uses less battery on my phone.

Might be worth rooting for this capability alone.
Hell, then I definitely want to root... now, anyone know the easiest way to do that one of these? :P

I've been looking into that myself. The hardware/software specs look similar to the AN-21 U generic android 4.1.1 head unit discussed on xda-developers here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2528349

There's an app available to make rooting those nice and easy, although I'm not sure whether or not it will work for the CaFi... anyone brave enough to try?

The description on the rooting page seems to indicate the Bluetooth pairing may be a hardware issue. That would be disappointing.

Just pulled trigger. Hopefully all plug and play for 2014 FR-Swith bespoke unit. Didn't order anything other than radio. Don't mind losing radio, aux. I may install a usb hub so stock port would not be used either

Bluetooth is restricted to phones only. (Unsure if this is hardware or software related, talking to manufacturer suggests hardware limitation).

Bluetooth dongles do not work.

What is everyone doing for subwoofers? Don't know if I should use the single out and split it via an adapter or use two of the regular rca outs and utilize my powered subwoofers built-in crossover....

I know jack shit about audio and was just gonna use the single out with a splitter. Didn't realize there was another possible option.

That's referencing the use of OBD2 dongles, which we already know work on this HU. The fact that it only works with phones wouldn't be an issue for tethering anyway, that's where we want the tethering from....

I'd love to be wrong as I have a Garmin GLO GPS receiver mounted in my back winshield for track days, and it works much better than the built-in units...
