Do you NEED to get a new tire if the puncture is on the side, any downsides to getting a patch even if it's on the side? Thanks!
In the US, usually, a tire shop (or dealership) won't patch a tubeless tire, if the puncture is on the sidewall of the tire.

It's good you got the tire "patched" and not just "plugged". Personally, I don't trust plugs as a permanent fix.

Yes, YOU can patch a tubeless tire with a puncture on the sidewall, but, it weakens the tire. I wouldn't recommend.

Did you pick up the nail by power sliding ??....... maybe ..... maybe not ......

Thanks @humfrz
Got back from the dealership, luckily it was punctured straight on top of the tire, in the middle.

Will these patches last as long as the tires, or do they need to be replaced?

Should last the life of the tire.

Yep, like HimBRZ says, the patch will usually last as long as the tire.

Now, don't drive in construction zones, or empty unused parking lots ......

Dammit guys! So last Wednesday I went in for an oil change at the Toyota dealership, and got a patch on one of my tires that had been puncture by a nailthe for $50, kinda pricey. Before leaving I asked where it was leaking and the guy said right in tip in the middle of the tire.

Couple days ago I got the tire pressure icon on my dash and come to find out the same tire lost so much air, down to 15psi. I'm for sure know I didn't puncture it again.

Do you think they will fix this issue for free? I don't want to spend another $50, and have spent $100 for a tire patch. What could cause s patched tire to lose air again, so fast?

Bad patches are rare. If they just plugged it then it could leak again. Or it had more than one hole in it from the first time and they just assumed they had got the only leak. Just take it back and say there is an issue. Any decent place will fix it up.

I love dirfting this platform, i have a few exhaust mods and it reallly makes jt fun to have it above 5krpm when your going sideways. I have had my car about a year now and since then ive killed about 7 sets of rear tires, i leave my stock wheels with deacent aftermarket somewhat grippy tires on the frony but in the rear i have a set of 16" steel rims that i put on when i want drift(they have been on for about 3 months straight...i have a prOblem lol) but ive been to a shop for an alignment and they said im all good, only had to make a ververy minor adjustment. 16s are cheap to find tires for and if you curb a rim its cheap to replace. I run 225s up fromy and and the shittiest 205 tires i can find for the rear WARNING if you go this route youll have the most fun of
Your life BUT be careful in the rain, even on NA with stock tune my cars loves breaking loose and shooting striaght to redline in 1st,2nd 3rd when its raining out, it does get very tail happy at the point so be careful, i reccomend taking your time and easing into it in a safe place before tackling your first street drift, ditches curbs kids parked cars and potholes come out nowhere

This is not my day!
..Just got back from the dealership and they said I had another hole on the side of the tire. And so I need new a new tire, didn't get one yet.

Guys been thinking, should I just get a new single tire, or invest in 4 new tires, bigger stickier ones, for better grip and performance...thoughts?
But just the tires, i'm keeping the rims stock!

If you go with sticker tires you will lose your ability to "power slide" easily. You will still be able to do it but you will bring everything closer to the limits and increase the risk of something going wrong.
Don't go a whole lot bigger on the stock wheels since that will push the limits even further.

That's fine, I rarely power slide now anyways.

Super noob question, if i want sticker tires for better perfromance, do i need to get 18 inch tires, is that what you meant by going bigger, the tires size?

Also i've seen many threads of people using the three number(00/00/00), What does that format mean? Thanks, sorry if it seems like im being spoon fed!

Used to take leaky tires to the local tire store and they'd patch them for free, hoping you'd remember them kindly when it's time for a new set.

Got a set of Goodyears for the 86 a couple years back. I've had them patch one for free and they'll rotate them for you free as well.
Wheee! spinny spin spin!

aside: he meant wider, not larger diameter.

You do not need to go to 18".
I meant wider tires on the stock wheels.
Good write up on sizes here: https://www.goodyearautoservice.com/...sics/tire-size
