just got word back from Japan on this kit, around $3000-3500 MSRP in US.

Waiting to see if the ECU tune is a requirement or not. Most likely not but need to make sure.

SARD Japan replied, said that the ITB setup can be sold without the tune. They would offer it "as-is" with no warranty if a tune is not purchased, however they will try to support end user as much as they can.

Given that the two (SARD and Greddy) are the same price, it may be worthwhile to consider additional factors like warranty and product support. SARD is a top brand but they are in the same realm as Fujitsubo, they don't have direct support in overseas markets such as North America.

I'd be very curious to know how these would sound.

A rough idea of what it will sound like from a kit made 2 years ago by a different company.

I have waited for this ITB kit since SARD announced it at the beginning of this year. SARD said it would launch around March....and it's November now.....At least it proves SARD invested time and money in it....

By the way, the dyno posted by CSG Mike that 45hp gain because of tune and itb does make me laugh for 5 miuntes.

It's amazing to me that they can even run this with just a tune. I guess if you got rid of the plenum and intake completely and just ran velocity stacks you'd need a standalone for sure?

A lot of cars can "run" without a tune.

I disconnected the airbox of an Impreza over the weekend to clean it, then had to move the car down the driveway. It started fine and idled normal with the airbox and MAF disconnected completely. I was also able to rev it.

Just because it runs doesn't mean it runs well. As for the tune, why not? All the air after the MAF is metered, just the distance between throttle body and injectors is a lot shorter.

It was just a comment on how back in the days adding an ITB setup meant adding a standalone ecu was a requirement for it to run well. Seems we've come a long way since then.
