For me, I am merely posting what I've observed with my '15 FR-S. I am rather happy with the figures as my previous S/C E46 M3 was far more thirsty. I''m still new to the platform as I was a Bimmer guy for over 8 years. Considering the contact patch is 245mm at all four corners on 200 UTQG tires, the mpg is decent.

Funny enough as I was going through my old collection of magazines I spotted this excerpt from an article in D-Sport (August 2012 Issue #118): Second Drive: 2013 Scion FR-S It's On Sale Now (Text by Michael Ferrara)

What's the Buzz About?: Since the Nevada highway provided the opportunity to maintain high road speeds, we noticed that the engine speed with the 6-speed manual transmission was pretty significant. At a steady 85 mph, the tachometer registered 3,650 RPM. This is considerably higher than most vehicles today, especially those with more than five forward gears. Why is the cruise RPM so reminiscent of a B16-equipped Civic Si? Quite simply, Toyota engineers dedicated all six speeds in the transmission to performance driving. Where a number of vehicles have a fifth and sixth gear dedicated to low-RPM cruising to maximize fuel mileage, the manual equipped FR-S makes no such concession. Fifth gear is setup for a one-to-one ratio while sixth offers a 0.767-to-1 overdrive ratio.

Automatic Solution: On the contrary, the automatic-equipped Scion FR-S offers a more conservative cruise RPM in its top gear. At 85 mph, the tachometer reads just 2,750 RPM in sixth. Fourth provides the 1-to-1 ratio while fifth is a 0.713-to-1 overdrive, offering more overdrive than the manual transmission's sixth gear. The automatic's sixth gear delivers a significant 0.582 overdrive that helps cut 900 RPM from the engine cruising speed at 85 mph versus the manual. The significantly lower cruise RPM is the primary reason for the automatic-equipped FR-S's increased highway fuel economy, rated at 34 MPG over the manual-equipped 30 MPG. Hence the automatic's range is about 50 miles further per tank with highway driving or about 40 miles further with city or combination driving.

Has anyone compared their average MPG before (stock form) doing any king of HP/torque + gain , then after the swap to a different air intake, and/or header, and/ or cat-back exhaust system (in a N/A car , no turbo) ?

If so, what were the results observed ?

Bokusārēsā : good info!! I usually cruise at 50-65 mph in those designated speed zones (5th or 6th gear), so my RPM does not get that high…..but still sounds like a Auto would beat me out MPG wise… some of the time. A Big.. big part comes to who the driver is/ driving style, light foot or lead foot (no Indians here), … along with some other main factors.

I was keeping track of every fill up for 2 years.
Didn't really notice a whole lot of difference from stock to header and tune to even supercharged.
It was only a couple MPG difference but I also drove a lot more aggressive, especially after getting the supercharger.

I'm sure I responded to this before, but the mpg isn't better because the gearing is good. And the '17 MT gets even better gearing so the mpg will be worse!

I didn't log it or anything so take this with a grain of salt. Before I added my SC, Headers, and tune, I was averaging around 31 mpg in combined driving. And up to 33-35 on the highway. After getting my SC on, it dropped to where I average 26-28mpg in combined driving and normally 31 mpg highway, though recently I was able to average 33.1 mpg. So it's not too bad. But truthfully, I sit around 26-28 9/10 times.

29mpg when I first got it, did a e85 and got 23mpg, then back to normal op and got 26 avg. Now I avg 27.6. Mixed driving.

Highway 34-36mpg at 65-72mph.

Oil changes at 3500-4500 have maintained my mpg at 27 to 30. If I do them at 5-7k I am getting the 27.6 mpg.

32 fuel fill ups so far.

Yes we can. I get 34MPG as steady as a rock and that makes me very happy. My sarcasm is directed to those that want to drive the crap out of it but get the mileage of a hybrid all the time. Compromises have to be made but even 24 or 25 MPG is pretty good for what the car does. They wrung 100 HP per liter out of them and that takes a bit more gas then your econobox sedan.

I honestly expected my mpg to drop to something like 20 avg from 30 avg. So I'm pretty happy with my 26-28 mpg avg. being supercharged.

But yeah, you have to expect fuel to disappear quicker when you are hooning around haha.
