DIY Antenna Stem Removal

ok so i did this firstly because i didn't like the antenna and i dont see any reason to pay for a shark fin antenna when we practically already have one on there..also this is probably the easiest diy ever..

i'm planning on using a bolt of some type and plastidipping it, but the ones i bought are a little too long

I also did not notice any loss in signal with the radio stations I listen to here in Houston, your miles may vary

1. Remove antenna

2. Place Screw in antenna hole to prevent any rusting of the inside of the antenna

3. Profit

Let me know when you find out the thread size screw fits. Gonna do this too, with plastidip.

Looks like someone swiped your antenna. Have you considered one of the cheap 2" shorty antennas?

Nice!

I actually pulled my antenna off about three weeks ago and tested the reception and found that i lost no service as well, but then i decided to put the antenna back on because of the hole it left behind. I think ill do this.

Well I'm not too concerned with the length of the screw. Just want to make sure I get the right size diameter/thread/etc.

I was always wanting to ask you..how does the turbo feel compare to the original? And also, how much psi are you running?

8.5psi got us 301whp on meth.

Making a guess I'd say 11psi might net us 350whp with E-85.

This is the easiest way to describe it compared to stock. It feels a tad bit touchy when you let off the clutch driving normally. When you floor it from 2500rpm in 1st gear it feels like the stock engine with a good tune up until about 4000rpm and then all of sudden shit just starts to get crazy. And it doesn't stop there, the higher you go through the RPM's the more power it gets. At around 4500-5000rpm under full load the wastegate opens and the meth kicks in and it's pure awesome. But it doesn't stop there. You shift into 2nd gear. And if you're good enough at shifting you won't lose much boost and you'll have most of the power you had at max RPM at 5000rpm. As long as you can hold your boost well this thing flies.

I personally can't friggin help myself when it comes to power so I told them to bump me up to 350whp. This thing will have the pull of a 500whp muscle car once boost kicks in (350whp).

It would be glorious if I could twincharge this motor lol.

Just thought I would share what I did with your technique. I bought the exact same set screw that you have pictured, and I also bought some #10 hinged screw covers (black plastic). The set screw is just ever so much larger than the hole in the screw cover, so I used an allen wrench and turned the screw through the hole, then attached the screw to the hole where the antenna was. Looks pretty sharp to me and gives it a nice finished look. Cant be beat for $3. Also I have lost no radio reception and still pick up all the HD channels.
