They honestly don't care. Like i said, they do follow SCCA rules, but helmets they're not too big on, you just need one. They run one car at a time, so if anything you'll either hit a wall or go into the ocean.

the autocrosses around here are pretty much like this- if it is solid, not broken, hard, fits on your head and maybe says DOT somewhere on it (though they don't check) you're good to go. I used an old DOT shorty open face helmet at my last autoX.
