I made some progress on squaring up my rear overfender to my sideskirt yesterday.

My gaps are pretty much on point. The plan is to 3M bond, fill, and mold the seam where the rear of my sideskirt meets my overfender.

The skirt and overfender are held together with a bolt and rivnut setup. This fastener will also help keep everything tight while the 3M bonding adhesive cures. I also have a bolt, spacer, and rivnut setup securing and maintaining the gap between the overfender and rear bumper extentions.

I'm considering a color change from the OEM pearl white to something different...and by different I mean white but not pearl.

I do like the bright whites but too white may clash with my engine bay since it is the base color of my pearl...I just need it to be close.

For that reason I'm leaning towards the Championship White (NH0) because from what I've read about the color it is described as creamy...creamy should work with my engine bay... however, I have time to figure this out so any suggestions on non-pearl whites will be appreciated.

I'm also considering:

HONDA:
Frost White (NH-538)
Aspen White (51E)
Taffeta White (NH-578)

TOYOTA:
Super White 2 (040)

BMW:
Alpine White (300)

NISSAN:
Solid White aka Glacier/Blizzard (QAK)

I always loved the pearl white used on the Toyota jzx100 chaser. I believe it is paint code 044

The warmer championship white gets my vote. The warmer white does better in direct sunlight in my opinion. Your panel work is incredible

I love pearl white as well but since I want to be different, save money, and make color matching in the future easier (if needed)... I'm going to go with a non-pearl white. Plus, I may take part in the painting of my build if not all of it...so if I jack some part up... It wouldn't hurt me in the pocket book as much if I end up needing more paint and or materials.

My .02... A fancy car like the 86 (let alone over like yours) shouldn't have a bland plain color. My opinion.

The bodywork looks great! I can't wait to see the finished product!

+1 for championship white looking very "creamy".

So I've been busy with finishing the fitment of my fenders, skirt, and rear bumper extention. I made some adjustments on front fender that squared it up with the door. The front fender is getting close to being ready for paint and primer... I just sprayed it with a guide coat so I can eliminate any low spots. I'll be doing that with the skirt next.

I'll post pics once I have all my passenger side panels primed and temp installed.

Here are some progres pics... I may mock up my L1 3P wheels tomorrow... stay tuned...

Minor tweaks to be made and a few more holes to be drilled but for the most part this side is done. I may start on my front bumper or rear bumper next before moving on to the driver side.

I finally got around to cutting my rear bumper to fit my rear beam brace support for my swan neck chassis mount wing.

To make the perfect cuts... I found the center on both bumper and support as pictured. The result were basically the minimal width cuts I could make. However, I widened the openings up almost equally around to leave room for adjustments and/or movement.

Btw... the little black spots that look like miscuts are actually the black plastic underneath showing after I sanded and filed the edges...

I'm very happy with the end product!

What I did:

>>Measured centerline of both bumper and support brace.

>>Lined them up with a square.

>>Used a ruler and sharpie to make a dashed lines.

>>Connected the dashes with a white paint marker and ruler.

>>Used Dremel with cutting wheel, sanding drum, and file make my openings.

>>Cleaned the edges up with sandpaper on a piece of sheet metal.

Perfect alignment on first try!

I advise you look for a way to reinforce the bumper cover itself since it had so little structure left in it. I expect it will vibrate/flap badly at speed

I have that thought out already... lol I'm installing 90º brackets that will be riveted to the brace and bonded on the inside of the bumper cover.
