Bluetooth Audio Quality?

I just got my BRZ a few days ago, and when I listen to music via Bluetooth from my phone, it has terrible quality.
I messed around with the audio settings a bit, but nothing helped.
It seems like its a bit muffled with slight static. It sounds a bit distorted.
Does anyone know what I could do to fix this?

Update: I figured out the problem.
I just got a new phone and I tested out the BT quality, and it sounds great.
Either my old phone wasn't up to date, or it's just shitty.

Yes, hook up the usb cable. For better sound quality.
The odd change I use the Bluetooth with my iPhone I have to turn down the volume to about 25%. Anything more sounds like mud.

The Bluetooth was more in mind for phone calls than music.
If for some reason you absolutely need Bluetooth audio, get a usb to Bluetooth dongle. Or upgrade your head unit.

Bluetooth audio sounds great on my 86 headunit. Always make sure your phone volume is fully turned up

Yeah, must be a Subaru thing. My Scion headunit is perfect in that regard.

My Bluetooth sounds fine. I have a Galaxy S6. Everyone says the call quality blows when they talk to me while im in the car, but I think that's related to the microphone, not the head unit.

I don't really notice a difference between USB and Bluetooth audio in my car.

Also, @KR-S 86, don't the twins have the same head units now?

I don't think Subaru would use an "inferior" Scion unit.

I believe the headunits are still different between the FR-S and BRZ, as well as other GT86 models in other parts of the world, where Scion doesn't exist.

On a latter note, my own car is a 2016 FR-S which has a revised Scion unit, which I believe is the second or third revision, I think? I know for a fact that Scion keeps revising their headunits, but as to how often, I'm not sure.

So in that regard, even FR-Ses have varying headunits depending on model year. There's almost no consistency of headunits with the twins!

Im using an after market now, but TBH the 13 base unit was awesome.. it had sub outs, xm support, never had issues with it other than being ugly.
