I kind of already figured this, but the pictures confirm it....you need to have the key in the ignition to use the push button start.

To me that is the biggest waste of such a feature. Push button start should only be put on cars that have a keyless ignition a la Nissans and all the new BMW models among others. Once I've put the key in the ignition I would rather just turn it to start the car. Instead I have to turn the key to on and then go push another button to start the car. It's an extra step that is completely useless and will be an annoyance every day.

Edit: Hopefully others are correct and only the Scion version will require a key since it doesn't appear that the FR-S will get the push button start.

There is no push button on the car that has the key in the ignition. My guess is that the low spec has a regular key and the high spec has push to start. The manual with push to start in the photos is not the same car that they drove in the reviews, those are just press photos that were released by Subaru.

Well then does this mean that the Scion will have an upgraded radio unit option as seen here with the down graded AC controls?

Yes, Scion has dealer installed NAV/headunit options if you don't like the stock piece. Be prepared to pay WAAAAY too much for it though, that's where Scion makes their money.

This is a Subaru branded unit that is standard on the BRZ. I'm sure the FR-S will have a nav option but it probably isn't the same one.

You're onto something here but I really hope they changed it. If the Subaru premium has the shitty hvac controls and no push start and just throw in the nav to make the difference I do not see why anyone wouldn't just buy the Scion version then.

Yeah at this point I am leaning towards the Subaru because the Scion interior looked like it had cheap looking plastic everywhere, where the subaru looks a bit nicer, and I also like the headlights better on the Subaru. But ultimately that is not worth much to me, if it turns out that the Subaru interior is just as cheap feeling as the Scion I will just get the Scion.

That's exactly what I'm thinking...why pay more for the Subaru? If the Scion and Subaru premium will both have same performance, no hids, no push start, shitty hvac...and Scion's going to be cheaper? Doesn't make sense...hopefully from what reviews are saying that the limited just adds the decklid spoiler, half leather seats, fogs, heated seats, 17 inch wheels over the premium because I like what I see on the BRZ and what the limited offers I will not need.

I think you guys are over speculating and started to worried over stuff that doesn't matter. I mean hell this is just an article not the official release spec. Just sit back and relax until US Debut at Detriot Auto Show.

"It also says that the car can accommodate a forward-facing child seat in the back."

I won't be buying the BRZ due to price, not happy even at 24K... However, that knocks one thing off my list!

So it doesn't want a turbo. Does it want a supercharger then?

Nice review. The writer totally digs the purpose of the car.
