So far, based on some other cross-references, it looks like the OFII-04A is the correct one. But I am not certain.

Edit:

It could be either of these:
OFII-04A 65x80 (width x height in mm)
OFII-02A 65x70 (width x height in mm)

Both are: M20×1.5

The O2A allegedly replaces Subaru part number: 15208-A0130. That's not exactly the same as 15208-AA130. But I'm just trying to figure out the proper sizing. I suppose I'll just measure once I have the car and order the one that is the closest height then. The both should fit though.
The tall one should work. But see if you can get an answer as to the bypass valve pressure. If it's real low, you might be better off with the Subaru filters and a filter mag.

The oil comes straight through the Fumoto valve. If you look at the picture of the F-108N you'll see where the oil comes out. The round part at 90 degrees is the pivot and spring housing for the lever to keep it closed.

Awesome thanks! I was having negative thoughts already on if it came out that other way; with threads being different and all haha

Good point. I'll be sure to check that out.

Thanks a lot Draco. The links are appreciated, it can be hard to find good tools and support parts.

Have you done an oil change on your set of ramps? Did you have any trouble with the front air dam clearing the slope of the ramps?

At stock ride height the front air dam just grazes the ramp. Any lower, or if you want no contact at all, you can use a couple boards to get the front end up higher before your tires hit the ramp. Just a pair of 3/4" thick boards on top of each other are enough to get my lowered STI onto the ramps.

I'm gonna buy that oil jug. I've used a sealed drain pan with a spout for a long time but it is awkward and messy.

Does anyone know any good websites on which to order oil/ramps and other maintenance equipment? I went to Autozone today but they only had one type of 0W-20 and it was pricy. Also I never used ramps before because I never needed them so I'll need to buy those.

I did stop at Subaru today to buy an oil filter for kicks. I figured it'd be tough to get the right one at the auto parts stores still and taking the Toyo to the Subie dealership for an oil filter was funny to me. (that and I think it's pricier at Toyota) A couple employees from sales and service were outside looking at my car when I was done muttering to themselves how it's only a little different.

Advance Autoparts (.com) should have everything you need. I know the stores out here stock everything. 0W-20 is harder to get. Mobil1 (not recommended for Subaru engines) and Castrol Edge Titanium. You can also use 5w-20, especially in the summer, the operating weight will be the same. I put 5w-20 Pennzoil Platinum in mine at my last oil change.

Hmm..... all I could find was Mobil 1 0w-20. I'll have to return it and get some 5w-20

Thanks Draco for the very helpful post. So what is the correct filter to use and washer (if we don't go fumoto)? You seemed to mention two different filters when discussing the magnets?

Oh, and do you need a special tool to tighten on the fumoto? I recently tried installing one during an oil change on a friend's car and we couldn't really tighten it because stuff was in the way.

There are two filters that fit our engine. The Subaru numbers end in 130 and 160. The 130 is a shorter and wider filter whereas the 160 is a taller and narrower filter. Both fit and both meet Subaru's standards for the engine. If you were to get a Purolator instead of the Subaru filter, you'd be looking at either the PL14459 (same as the 130) or the PL14610 (same as the 160). As far as the washer goes, a 16mm crush washer should be fine. A lot of Subaru parts departments will sell them with the filters.

I just use an open ended wrench. 19mm I think....

Thanks again. So is there any advantage to one filter over the other? I think I saw in another thread that Subaru might be discontinuing one of them?

If you're buying the Subaru filters, there's no difference. If you're getting another brand, I'd recommend the 14610 or equivalent. Aftermarket filters have MUCH lower bypass pressures (8-11psi vs 24psi), so you want as much filter element as possible to keep the pressure at the bypass valve as low as possible.

Thanks for reminding me about the Fumoto valve. I had one on my Elise and, especially for that car, it makes oil changes soooo much easier. Ordered!

I suggest you setup an Amazon Associates account and link to the Amazon product page. That way you can earn a little cash on an excellent recommendation!
