Looks like Redwood Road is potentially getting close to re-opening: https://roadclosures.acgov.org/index...4-0749130b4b16

I know it’s no fun for those on the Castro Valley side, but I’ve really enjoyed Redwood being closed. So little traffic!

Since I’m off today I decided to do a solo drive on highway 9 from Saratoga to Scott’s Valley for the first time. I’d done highway 9 before but only to skyline so this was definitely an adventure. The road was pretty much all mine to Ben Lomond or thereabouts. Super fun drive IMO. It has a great mix of really curvy sections and a good amount of straights.

Trying to decide about going back the same way or taking hwy 17 as originally planned.

Yeah it's nice with nobody on Redwood right now.

But when it's back open, I can do the epic Grizzly Peak, Pinehurst, Redwood, Palomares, and Mines drive. Such a nice route.

So much for playing hookie and driving around the foothills...

Visibility was terrible at the higher elevations and tons of construction/tree work that it hard to get a clear run (since cars would always have to slow and stop for 1-lane sections)

Just for the record...

We destroyed the front axle on our Team America Jetta.

DESTROYED! Bye bye... No bringing it back... Forgot the spare too...

Nah, I think you should just bring it to your dealer and have them torque down the axle nuts...

Any chance of the fog letting up anytime soon for morning touge runs?
I miss enjoying the winding roads with my 86 fam for damn near 2 years!

I'll see if I can sneak out on this Thursday and drive out to Alice's for lunch so I can scope out the conditions of the roads.

Went up and down 128-121 by lake Beryessa Sunday morning (my wife was super nice enough to let me, taking both kids for a few hours). It was quite a nice drive but damn, there are some stealth pot holes in some sections. Pretty sure somethings worked its way lose on the front passenger suspension, it was clunk-central on the drive home... Not looking forward to figuring out what it is. Wished the RS was easier to work on...

Alright, with the news of the Village Inn Cafe in Orinda closing rocking me to my core, who wants to play hookie Fri morning and hit Redwood and grab some corned beef hash one last time? I'd usually suggest the weekend, but I'm assuming they will be busy.

Just a note that Redwood isn't slated to re-open until March 3rd now. So enjoy it while it's quiet. I may go for a little drive today at lunch time.

When are they closing? I still have never been
