I don't just check the level of my oil, I taste it as well. If it tastes like meth, time for an oil change. If it tastes like ethanol, I save a quart to drink. Keeps me regular and chirp-free.

You may have to take a few tums first because it might be a little acidic.

Dirty oil makes a fine salad dressing. Stomach knocks a bit, though.

The ms knock becomes predetonation, op will wonder why he’s stranded at the side of the road with a rod through the block, and won’t even remember this thread, and will take no ownership of the problem.

But he has over 94,000 trouble free miles on it already...

Originally, when Subaru and Toyota tested the car engine for production, it produced 200 or 205 hp at the crank, (depending on the engine). It did this on their recommended 93 octane gas, so, legally they have to indicate that you need to feed it 93 octane in order to stay legal with their numbers. What happens to the engine if you don’t use 93 octane? Simple...your engine will generate less horse power since ignition timing will be lowered to avoid engine knocking. And that’s it folks...and no, the engine will not blow up. Sorry.

You're retarded. Who wants to drive with less HPs!?

There is no "legal" retirement as you stated. Good atttempt at raionalizing but it is a false statement. The reason they recommend 93 and REQUIRE 91 is that it is a high compression engine that CAN be damaged by using fuel with too low an octane. Yes it will pull timing but that is only after the knocking occurs it can not preemptively save the engine when the wrong fuel is used.
THAT is all.

Thanks for the nasty name calling...tells me a lot about the way you think.

I never said “you want to drive with less HP’s”. But that is what will happen if you decide to use a lower octane gasoline.
