Should have chucked the dog owner out the window and let the dog drive. I find almost EVERYTHING funny... but I love dogs and this isn't.

I'm guessing the dog jumped and wasn't chucked out the window (I've seen that happen more than once out the back of a pickup).

But you may have realized that....

my dad's lab would jump out every now and then when we were going to the park or something. he never got hurt and from the looks of it the truck was only going as fast as the other dog was running so it couldn't have been to fast. he/she's probably fine.

Yeah I love dogs too... They can be soooo smart, but boy can they do some stupid things! Great all around entertainment!

I didn't mean to imply that the dog had been chucked. Driving with the window down far enough for an unrestrained dog to jump out is what bothered me. People, generally, are smart enough not to jump out of moving vehicles, but dogs aren't. Hence, the owner would need to be chucked.
Last week, I followed some idiot driving a pickup at 60 mph in 45 degree rainy weather with an unrestrained black lab in the bed of the truck, and saw the dog almost fall out quite a few times. This was in NC near Manteo, and I don't know their laws re/ dogs and vehicles. I still feel bad I didn't call it in, but I'm hesitant to use 911 for things other true human emergencies.
That's what got me so ticked about the gif.

Last time I looked this up there were only about 8 states that had any type of restrictions on pets in truck beds, or in cars. They were all in the northeast and west US.

I grew up in NC and they do have laws around direct animal abuse, but as far as I know nothing specifically about dogs riding in vehicles.

In the end, I doubt that calling it in would have done anything (even if it should).
