2023 Production

Does anyone have insider info when Subaru will start 2023 production? I have a 2023 on order and just need to narrow down a time frame. I really don't want to miss AutoX this season.

My local dealer just told me that they expect 2023 BRZs to start coming in around September.

Yeah, my dealer said November. Even my salesman said that is estimated... So could it be earlier?

It may be earlier.
It may be later.
Maybe none at all.
Maybe many units over plan.
Not sure how many times I need to say this but it doesn't matter what "used' to happen or what they "normally" do.
The dealers don't know.
At this point the plant doesn't know.
Expect this scenario to last at least another year.

I ordered mine 3 weeks ago and was told August-September. And I think a few others have received a similar date.

However, I won't be surprised if it's not here until Oct-Nov.

I'm choosing to believe late October/November, as that will be the least convenient for me. Well, aside from December or January. But it can't possibly be that long... Right...?

that's what I'm worried about. In upstate NY November is Winter Storage month. No use for the car in November, let alone Dec. or January. I won't accept delivery.

Then spring will roll around and all of a sudden there won't be one to be had.

With interest rates going up and the market continues to tumble, I think you will have a much easier time finding a 2023 next year. Supply issue won't be fixed but there will also be less demand given the deteriorating markets. Just my thoughts.

Interest rates, gas prices and just the overall instability are all going to impact the 2023 sales but if they don't manage to fulfill the demand on the 2022s then getting a 2023 may not be as easy as you may expect. In a normal year they would plan a very large number for the new release and then tapper that down each following year. As we have seen here this has been anything but a normal new release. The good news is that they know the issues so will likely deviate from the standard plan and if able, make more 23s than the original schedule would have planned for.

Fair, but i feel some of the 2022 demand will also vanish with the ongoing craziness in the markets. As well, some buyers might only be getting a new car now because of strong used car prices but i think there will be an adjustment to that as well.

Agree on most cars but as we see here these are a bit different. What should happen (notice the use of the word should) is that the mark ups we are currently seeing would go away and that should balance out buyers that drop out for other reasons.

I do know that at this point in time I am very, very glad that I do not make my living trying to sell new cars!
